Before the Howls

Long before the Blood Moon Pack was destroyed, before the Silver Hand became a name whispered in fear, and before two completely different worlds were destined to collide, there were two clans hidden beneath the mountains of South Korea.

The Blood Moon Pack lived near Bukhan Mountain.

They were known for their strength, their loyalty, and the crimson moon that appeared above their territory every few years. Their pack believed that an Alpha was not simply born to lead.

An Alpha was born to protect.

And among them was a ten-year-old boy who had no idea how much the weight of that title would eventually cost him.

Jeon Jungkook was the youngest son of Alpha Jeon Junghyun and Omega Kim Sohyeon.

He was curious, stubborn, energetic, and far more fearless than his parents would have liked. Jungkook had a habit of asking questions at the worst possible moments and challenging anyone who told him that he was too young to understand something.

He was still a child.

He didn't know that the adults around him had already begun preparing him for a future he had never asked for.

His father saw an Alpha.

His mother saw her little boy.

And his five closest brothers saw Jungkook as family.

Kim Namjoon was thirteen and already carried himself like someone much older. He was thoughtful and intelligent, always searching for answers before making a decision. While the others trained their bodies, Namjoon spent hours studying the laws, history, and traditions of their pack.

He believed that knowledge could protect them just as much as strength.

Kim Seokjin, fifteen, was the oldest of the group.

Jin had a natural confidence that made people listen to him, but beneath it was someone who worried constantly about everyone around him. He took care of the younger boys, made sure they ate, helped patch up injuries after training, and somehow managed to find something to laugh about even when the adults were taking everything too seriously.

He rarely admitted when he was afraid.

Especially when the younger boys were watching.

Min Yoongi was nine.

Quiet and observant, Yoongi preferred listening to speaking. He noticed things other people missed and remembered details that everyone else forgot. He wasn't the type to make promises easily, but once he gave someone his loyalty, he didn't take it back.

Jung Hoseok was eleven.

Where Yoongi was quiet, Hoseok was energy.

He could turn an ordinary afternoon into chaos within minutes, and he had a talent for making the others laugh when they needed it most. His optimism often made him seem fearless, but Hoseok understood more than people realized. He knew when someone was hurting, even when they tried to hide it.

And then there was Park Jimin.

Seven years old, gentle-hearted, emotional, and incredibly affectionate toward the people he trusted.

Jimin was often the one who noticed when someone was upset before anyone else did. He hated seeing people he loved hurt, and although he was the youngest of the group, he possessed a quiet courage that none of them underestimated.

Together, the six boys were inseparable.

Jungkook never questioned whether they would always be there.

Why would he?

They had grown up together.

They trained together.

They ate together.

They fought, laughed, argued, and made up like brothers.

They believed they would grow old together.

They were wrong.

Far beyond the Blood Moon territory, hidden deep within the northern forests, lived another clan.

The Moonshadow Clan.

Unlike the Blood Moon Pack, the Moonshadow Clan valued hierarchy above almost everything else.

Alphas led.

Betas supported.

Omegas followed.

At least, that was what they believed.

And somewhere within that clan lived a twelve-year-old boy named Kim Taehyung.

Taehyung was an Omega.

At least, that was what everyone believed.

He had grown up learning that his place was beneath others. He was expected to stay quiet, obey without question, and accept whatever role the clan decided belonged to him.

His family never treated him like someone destined for greatness.

They saw an ordinary Omega.

Someone who needed protection.

Someone who couldn't lead.

Someone who would never possess the strength of an Alpha.

Taehyung learned not to argue.

Instead, he watched.

He watched how the elders spoke when they thought nobody was listening. He watched which guards changed shifts and which paths were rarely used. He noticed which members of the clan held influence and which ones were ignored.

Every insult became something he remembered.

Every dismissal became another piece of information.

The clan believed they were teaching him obedience.

They didn't realize they were teaching him how to survive.

And somewhere deep within Taehyung's blood was a secret that even he didn't know existed.

A secret that had been hidden for generations.

A secret that could change the balance between clans.

But for now, Taehyung was simply the Omega everyone overlooked.

Two boys.

Two clans.

Two completely different lives.

Jungkook was surrounded by people who loved him, unaware that his future would be shaped by loss.

Taehyung was surrounded by people who underestimated him, unaware that there was something inside him they could never understand.

Neither boy knew the other's name.

Neither knew the other's existence.

And neither knew that their stories had already begun moving toward one another.

Before Jungkook became the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, he would first become a survivor.

Before Taehyung discovered what lived within his blood, he would first learn how to survive being unseen.

And before either of them understood the truth, the mountains would hear a howl that would change everything.

The night of broken howls was coming.

And when it arrived, nothing would ever be the same.
