The hustle and bustle of Daigon Alley was a strange comfort to Astoria. She took a moment to stop and watch first years with their families, going from shop to shop looking for their Hogwarts supplies. She was doing the same, only she was starting as a sixth year, so she needed very different things.

She made her way down the cobble street, scanning the oddly shaped buildings for the potions shop. She was most excited for this class, as she had felt weirdly drawn to potions when she'd figured out she would be attending Hogwarts.

She passed a broom shop, Grinngotts, and a pub before she found the potions shop. As she pushed open the door, she was hit with the foul odor of potion ingredients.

"ugh.. maybe potions won't be as fun as I thought." She mumbled to herself, though she was mostly kidding. The smell didn't bother her that much.

"You get used to it." Said a voice from behind her.

She turned around to see a boy about her age, with silver eyes and platinum blonde hair.

'He's kinda cute.. guess it wouldn't hurt to make a friend.' She thought to herself before offering a small smile. "Ah, well, that's reassuring. I'm Astoria Touly."

"Draco Malfoy." Said the boy, though he didn't return her smile. In fact, he didn't show much emotion at all.

"So.. you attend Hogwarts too?"

Draco didn't respond, just gave a slight nod and continued to sort through different potions.

'not much of a talker..' Astoria thought to herself.

Instead of continuing the awkward interaction, she leaves him to his brooding and returns to her shopping. It took her about thirty minutes to buy everything, as she couldn't figure out what was what half the time. As she went to leave the shop, she wasn't looking where she was going and bumped straight into someone.

"Crap- I'm so sorry!" She apologized instantly, her cheeks slightly flushed with embarrassment.

"Do watch where you're going." The man spoke. His voice was silky, almost snake like.

When she looked up, she saw he looked a bit like the boy she'd met earlier, only older and had much longer hair. He also carried and cane with a snake crest. Freaky..

"R-right, I'm sorry sir.." She apologized again, slipping past him, but not before she caught him mutter something.

"Mudblood loving freak.."

The phrase—"mudblood"— made her bristle. Even she knew what it meant. It was basically a slur in the wizarding world. Guess that man wasn't someone you should idolize...

It took a total of four hours for Astoria to get all her school supplies, and she vowed to never step foot in Daigon Alley ever again. She most defineitly would come back. It took her an additional twenty minutes to even board the Hogwarts Express. Once she did, she just slipped into a compartment—mainly because she got shoved into it.

A few mumbled curses later, she looked up to see the same boy—Draco, he said his name was—in that very compartment.

"Oh, hello again." Astoria said, offering yet another smile. Draco just looked her up and down, expression unreadable.

"Did you have to choose this car?" He finally asked, his tone full of irritation that made Astoria brtisle

"Well, its not like this express is very spacious. I got shoved in here." She crossed her arms over her chest.

"Well, don't bother me. And don't breath too loud. Matter of fact, just cast a silencing charm on yourself." He spat

Astoria just gave him a nasty look. "Whatever. Arrogant bastard.."

"What did you just call me?"

"Nothing." She didn't meet his gaze, just looked out the window as the train began to move.

"yeah, thats what I thought, Mudblood lover."

Astoria took a deep breath. The use of the word Mudblood never failed to make her mad. It was like any normal slur, so why did people in this world say it so much? She didn't care to find out right now. All she wanted was to sleep the whole ride to Hogwarts.
