The raid on the Shie Hassaikai remnants' hidden stronghold had been planned with surgical precision. Every hero involved had studied the blueprints, memorized the escape routes, and prepared for a clean containment operation. But twenty minutes in, the plan had disintegrated something feral and unrecognizable.
Deep beneath the industrial district of Hosu, the subterranean facility felt like a living creature thrashing in its death throes. The air tasted damp concrete, ozone, and metallic tang of blood. Dust hung thick enough to choke on, swirling in violent clouds every time another explosion rattled the bedrock.
The ground trembled under their feet. The walls groaned. The ceiling cracked like an old bone.
"Fall back to the secondary line!" Eraser Head shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos like a whip. His capture scarf lashed out, snagging a villain who had tried to flank the rear guard. With a brutal twist, he slammed the man into the floor, eyes already scanning for the next threat.
Beside him, Present Mic unleashed bursts of high‑frequency sound, each one sharp enough to make the air vibrate. "Eraser! The ceiling is not holding! The supports took too much damage from that last blast!"
"I know!" Aizawa barked back.
He turned toward the students stationed near the perimeter. "Class 1‑A! Defensive formation of Delta! Protect the perimeter and prepare to evacuate!"
The students scrambled into a position — but one of them did not move toward the retreat line.
Katsuki Bakugo stood in the center of the battlefield like a burning star. Explosions crackled from his palms, lighting the cavern in violent flashes of orange and crimson. His teeth were borne, sweat dripping down his jaw as he detonated a massive shockwave that sent a heavy‑hitting villain flying.
"Get out of my way, you useless bastards!" He roared.
But something was wrong.
His voice was not wild with anger. It was sharp. Focused.... desperate.
He was not fighting like he wanted to win.
He was fighting like he did not care what happened to him.
Aizawa saw it — a flicker of something unstable beneath Bakugo's fury. A crack in the armor. A shadow behind the fire.
"Bakugo, retreat is an order!" All Might's weakened voice boomed from near the breach point. Even in his thin form, his presence commanded attention. "The structural integrity of this cavern is compromised! We need to pull everyone out now!"
"Not until they're all down!" Bakugo snarled, blasting forward with twin bursts of sparks.
"Katsuki, wait!" Kirishima yelled, hardening his arms to block falling rubble. "The pros are right — this place is coming down!"
Uraraka touched falling boulders, sending them floating upward. Kaminari and Sero secured the evacuation route. Nezu perched on All Might's shoulder, monitoring micro‑vibrations in the walls.
"It is too late for an orderly evacuation," Nezu said softly. "The load‑bearing pillars have failed."
A sound like a dying titan echoed through the cavern — a grinding screech of reinforced steel snapping.
The ceiling did not crack.
It collapsed.
Thousands of tons of earth, concrete, and steel plummeted downward in an instant avalanche.
"Aizawa!" Present Mic shouted.
Aizawa launched his capture weapon upward, trying to anchor a falling beam — but the momentum was too much.
