Epilogue

He sobbed as he held the lifeless body of his lover, desperate to cling onto whatever little hope he had left.

He didn't want to believe that she had died, no, refused to believe that she died. She wasn't supposed to die, at least not like this. She was supposed to die old with him. They were meant to grow old together once they had a family.

As she bled out on the floor of their own home, her limp body lay in his arms as he continued shaking her. The light in her eyes, no longer as bright as it was when she was once breathing, smiling up at him.

The stab wounds on her chest and stomach bleeding out as her lover tried to stop it, like that would help. She was dead, no longer the same woman he knew,  and he knew that but he couldn't accept it.

He'd remember the smile on her face when they bickered. The pout when she got upset at him teasing her for being clumsy. And when she cried tears of joy when she found out she was pregnant...

They were expecting a baby, yet they never expected that their world would come crashing down so suddenly.
