In a large conference hall, many people were gathered today, all planning to witness a change in the history of technology.
The host said in a calm voice to the silent audience, "Everyone, let's welcome Professor Maxwell."
The audience burst into an ovation. After the professor came onto the stage, the crowd stopped clapping after he came forward to the centre of the stage.
"Good day, everyone. I am Maxwell. As we all know, we are all here to witness a moment that would forever change the history of the world's tec..." Before the audience knew it, a bloody hole appeared on the man's forehead, and he dropped dead on the stage.
Because it was unexpected, everywhere went silent for a second before screams echoed through the hall.
Meanwhile, the person who caused the commotion clicked on her earpiece. "Target eliminated."
Then she packed her guns and left the place she was in. She went straight to the bathroom at the side of the hall.
A while later, an ordinary-looking student came out from the bathroom and headed out of the place, mingling with the panicked crowd.
After leaving the building, a girl dressed as a loli with two pigtails, chewing on gum, came beside her.
"Well done, Red Rose. I can finally stop dressing like this."
Seeing that the other girl was silent, she asked, "Is something wrong?"
"I want to speak to the higher-ups. I want to be free from the organization. What about you?" Red Rose asked, staring at Oleander, her sworn sister. They had trained together, gone on several missions together, and even fought each other several times, but they still loved each other.
"Alright, let's do it."
After that, Red Rose went to the small pond at the opposite end of the school. Staring at the fish swimming freely in the water, she felt envy.
Despite being the top agent of the Blackthorn Organization, she had always felt incomplete, so she had decided to talk to the organization. It was high time she retired.
Surprisingly, the organization agreed to grant her and her sworn sister freedom if they could complete the organization's top mission, whose danger level was rated S+.
The operation was as dangerous as it had been rated, but they successfully completed the mission.
They did not wait for long when the boat from the organization arrived. Resting on the railings at the edge of the boat, Red Rose smiled brightly as she stared at the sea.
She could not explain why she had always loved the ocean. It always made her feel at ease, and combined with her freedom from the organization, she felt completely at ease.
"Rosy, are you so happy about your freedom?"
"Yes, Oleander. I can't wait to leave. I have made plans. We would go shopping, then you know I like the beach, so we would go to the beach all through summer. Mountain climbing..." The more Red Rose spoke, the more the smile on her face widened, happiness glowing on her face.
Because she was with someone she trusted, she was unguarded, only feeling her danger instinct flaring up when it was no longer possible to avoid it. Followed immediately behind it was pain. Red rose could not say which hurt more, her belly or her heart.
Red Rose was stabbed deeply in her belly. She held the hand holding the knife and raised her head, asking with a choked voice, "Why?"
If everyone in this world were to betray her, the last person she would ever expect to betray her was Oleander, for their bond was stronger than that of blood-related siblings after years of fighting against death together.
"I... I am pregnant with Liam's child. The organization had kidnapped him, using him to threaten me into killing you. The higher-ups said the only freedom they could give was by death."
Red Rose began to laugh after hearing this. "Ha ha ha ha..."
As she did, she began to feel weak and started to fall backward. Seeing this, Oleander began to panic as she helped her, resting Red Rose's head on her lap while she sat on the boat floor while resting he back against the railings.
"You would be alright. I did not stab where it is fatal at all. You would fake your death and leave the life you wanted and be happy like a normal person in their twenties should be."
As she said this, Red Rose felt a metallic taste rush from her throat to her mouth, then it slid down from the corner of her lips.
This only made Oleander panic more. "What is happening? Why? I swear I did nothing to the knife."
Red Rose, with blood-stained teeth, said, "We were double-played. The tear gas we used to escape should have had pollen inside it."
"Pollen? The potent poison?" Oleander also began to feel weakness in her body. Concluding from Red Rose's symptoms, she knew it was indeed pollen.
Despite this, she held Red Rose, tears streaming from her eyes. "I am sorry for being stupid and even naive to think we could survive this without me telling you."
She used her hands to rub Red Rose's silky hair. "I thought I could save us both, but I failed."
Blood was already flowing from the corner of her mouth as she said this.
"puh" Red Rose spat out.
Seeing that Red Rose was spouting more blood, she held her face. "Rosy! Rosy! Please stay with me."
By now, Red Rose raised her hands into her hair and removed the hairpin from it.
Then she held her sister's hand, pressing it against the remote. "Since we would definitely die today, why don't we all go to hell together?"
Red Rose did not need to explain too much before the other woman understood what she meant, and she nodded. Then they both pressed the red button on the hairpin.
At the same time, many places around the world exploded, causing panic amongst the people.
Laying on Oleander's lap while she rested against the boat railings as the boat sailed smoothly on the water, Red Rose stared at the blue sky. Then she said with melancholy, "Sister, I think my freedom is about to come. I am so sorry that my niece or nephew would not be born into the world."
A single tear fell from the corner of her eye as she lay dead, her eyes forever open.
Oleander's poison was already catching up to her.
She was bleeding, and her stomach had begun to hurt seriously.
She knew she did not have much time left.
With trembling hands, she gently closed Red Rose's eyes.
Then she placed a kiss on her forehead.
After that, she lay beside her, a peaceful expression on her face as she laid to rest forever with her sworn sister.
