It was 7:00 am. A man was resting in his bed, the air conditioner blasting cold air into the room. The man had the thick blanket pulled up to the bottom half of his chest. His arms remained outstretched, one holding a remote control for the TV screen they owned. He had a large OLED TV on as they watched a new report playing. The light from the TV illuminated the sheets covering him, and his half-closed eyes slowly blinked as he looked on.
"It had been exactly 2 years to the day since the UFO had appeared before Earth to drop off our own kind," A News Reporter said in a sharp, intelligent voice. "The individuals dropped off, Air Force Major Olga Solis and her nephew Elio, were the recipients of what may be the greatest UFO event of our time. However, when asked about the events, the Air Force stationed at the UFO's location had this to say."
"We can neither confirm nor deny the presence of alien life from that event," Answered one soldier being interviewed.
"That thing appearing to drop the Solis's off is key proof that aliens have received our message!" Dr. Gunther Melmac added, from another interview. "This is, very well, the key to finally making real contact with other species we've only seen in Science Fiction!"
"While nothing is confirmed on the validation of the events, one thing is for sure: humanity might not be so lonely after all." The reporter finished. "Channel 10 News signing off for now."
The man reached out his arm with the remote and turned it off as he slowly rose from his bed and stretched. Getting his feet into sandals, he walked toward his front window and opened the blinds. The blinding light of the sun made his eyelids slam shut, but a hand relieved it. The sunlight beamed down upon the homes he could see in his quiet, suburban neighborhood. He could hear the sounds of birds chirping in the distance as they flew past.
The man took a breath and sighed gently as he whispered to himself, "Another new day."
He then went into his bathroom; it was pure white from the ceramic tiles and such. He walked up to the bathroom sink and took a few moments to brush his teeth. After spitting out the residue and rinsing his mouth, he took a moment to gaze at his own face. His hair was trimmed to a basic fade, with a short mustache under his nose and a tiny beard under his chin. Afterward, he went into his kitchen and made a basic breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast. A mug of coffee had been brewed not long before he did so. It was mixed with a simple vanilla creamer, giving it a sweet smell from the steam that gently billowed upward.
It wasn't long before he finished his breakfast. And he checked his phone for any notifications. It read a blinking reminder: "Don't be late for work- 9:00 AM." With that in mind, he was quick to gather the things needed for his job before leaving his home. When he walked through the front door, he had casual clothing on, but he carried a duffel bag full of potential equipment. He strapped the bag onto the back of his Bicycle before he rode off. The man rode down many homes in the block, each looking similar, yet different. Neighbors who did see him were happy to greet him.
"Good Morning, Angel!" One neighbor called out, waving with a newspaper in their hand.
"Morning!" The man, named Angel, responded, waving back; He had a slightly deep voice when he spoke. Angel felt the breeze hit his face, and his hoodie gently wrinkled as he went. Soon, he got out of the neighborhood and rode through the bicycle lane of the road. It was a short ride to the building he was working in, so it didn't take long to arrive. He strapped his bike to the support with a simple lock before entering. The building he worked at was roughly two stories tall. Square windows lined each floor of every room. Blue and White colors adorned the walls outside. Entering the building, Angel walked forward and looked at the analog clock that hovered over the doors. The time read 8:55 AM.
