Why do we call pink feminine and blue masculine? Why is black dark and heavy, and white pure and light?
We gender colors. We gender music. We gender the wind.
So maybe identity was never meant to be a solid box of paint, but a shade.
He was born in black. Expected to stay black. Masculine. Solid. Unquestioned.
Until a pinch of pink bled in.
Not enough to be fully masculine, so he's gray. Not enough to be fully feminine, so he's pinkish.
Biologically a man, emotionally a woman. Caught between two palettes the world refuses to mix.
She is a girl who has always loved pink. Until she meets a boy who is becoming it.
Is he still a he? Is love still straight if the person you love is not? what if identity isn't a primary color? What if it's a blend? And what if blends are still real colors?
He calls himself Pinkish Gray.
She calls him hers.
