I walked into my room and there she sat, this blue haired fragile-looking creature, munching on a daffodil.

"Who the hell are you?" I dropped my backpack in surprise and felt my heart reboot.

She merely smiled a big goofy grin and said, "Jacinthe."

I stared at her for a moment until I realized that Jacinthe was her name, not some foreign gibberish language.

She waved a hand in front of my eyes, suddenly much closer to me.

She tapped on my skull. "Hello? Earth to David? Anyone in there?" Her breath smelled like Jasmine.

"Why and how did you get into my room? Did my mom let you in?" Of course. My mom's always trying to set me up with someone.

"Don't be so dense. I'm here because your father sent me." Her voice twinkled out shocking words.

"My father's dead." I angrily stared her down, willing her to leave.

"No, David. He's very much alive, and he'd like to see you." Her grin grew even bigger, and all I could think of was how much it annoyed me.

"Get out, Jac-Jacen-jaci.."

"Jacinthe. But you can call me Jac."

"GET OUT OF MY ROOM." My voice boomed at her.

She didn't even flinch, her grin grew wider still.

I heard footsteps clamor up the stairs.

"David, are you okay in there?" I heard my mother's worried voice ooze under the door. She opened it, slowly. "Who are you talking to..?" The concern was plain on her face.

I turned around, and Jac was sitting on my windowsill, chewing on more flowers from the window box outside. She wistfully smiled and putting a thin finger to her lips, she winked.

I slowly turned back around to my mother, keeping my eyes on Jac for as long as possible.

"There was..a cat." I thought fast and groaned internally at my dumb response.

"David, we don't own a cat." My mother's forehead furrowed.

"It came in through the window.." I looked over and there Jac sat, giggling and red-faced, obviously content with my display of idiocy, next to the closed window.

"David..are you sure you're okay?" My mom came towards me and felt my forehead.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Mom. Why would I lie about a cat?" That's a really good question, actually.

"I'm not sure.. But dinner's going to be late tonight, I have to do a couple errands, unless you want to just order a pizza. I'll be gone almost all night." I could see the cost of a white padded room and a straight jacket being added up in her eyes.

"Have fun, Mom. Be careful. Love you." I made sure to sound sincere, like I wasn't seeing annoying blue-haired girls or anything.

After a brief bout of persuasion, my mother finally left and shut the door behind her.

I whipped back around to face Jac, whom had miraculously disappeared. Go figure.
