the rain in seoul always looked prettiest from seventy stories up.

jung ahyeon clung to the side of the glass skyscraper, her fingers sticking effortlessly to the cold pane. underneath her white, black, and hot-pink hooded suit, she was sweating. not from the climb, but because of who was standing inside the luxury penthouse suite just a few feet away.

pharita chaikong.

in her civilian life, ahyeon was a certified loser. she was the shy, quiet girl who tripped over her own shoelaces and sat in the back of lecture halls, barely able to squeak out a "hello" whenever pharita walked past her. but in this suit? ahyeon was the city's savior. and, more importantly, she was pharita's personal guardian angel.

because pharita had a knack for getting into trouble. whether it was taking reckless late-night shortcuts through quiet alleyways or wandering onto unstable construction sites, pharita was magnetic to chaos. and ahyeon was always there to catch her.

inside the glass room, pharita was arguing with her boyfriend. he was a wealthy, self-absorbed heir who was currently pacing back and forth, gesturing wildly. pharita looked bored out of her mind. suddenly, he threw his hands up and stormed out of the room, slamming the door.

pharita sighed, running a hand through her long hair. she walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the city.

ahyeon froze. she was right there.

slowly, pharita's eyes locked onto the white and pink figure clinging to the glass. instead of being startled, a brilliant, breathtaking smile spread across her face. she slid the heavy glass door open, letting the cool, damp night air rush into the warm room.

"you're late," pharita teased, leaning against the doorframe. her voice was soft, but it carried over the city hum.

ahyeon let go of the wall, landing silently on her feet on the balcony. she pulled her hood down completely, though the mask remained intact. "i had to stop a bus from sliding off a bridge. what's your excuse for almost getting into a fight with a glass vase?"

pharita chuckled, a soft sound in the quiet air, taking a step closer. ahyeon's heart did a violent flip. even in a simple silk robe, pharita looked ethereal.

"he's just annoying," pharita murmured, her eyes dropping down to trace the lines of ahyeon's suit.

pharita had never been interested in women before. she had spent her whole life dating the men her family approved of. but there was something about the mysterious hero in the tight-fitting hoodie suit that sent an electric shiver straight down her spine. the way the sleek fabric clung to the curves of her body, the quiet strength in her posture, the effortless grace of her movements. it did things to pharita that she couldn't explain. she didn't even care who was under the mask. she just wanted her.

"are you going to stand out there in the rain?" pharita asked, her voice dropping to a teasing whisper. "or are you going to come inside?"

ahyeon swallowed hard, thank goodness for the mask hiding her bright red face. she stepped into the warm, dimly lit penthouse. "i shouldn't stay long. patrol duty."

"just five minutes," pharita pleaded gently. she stepped directly into ahyeon's personal space, the scent of expensive jasmine and rain swirling between them. pharita reached out, her delicate fingers brushing against the high-tech, form-fitting fabric of ahyeon's shoulder. she felt the muscle underneath flex at her touch. "you saved me yesterday. from that falling crane. i didn't get to thank you properly."

"you don't have to thank me," ahyeon squeaked out, trying desperately to keep her voice deep and heroic, rather than the high-pitched stammer of her civilian self. "it's my job."

"is it?" pharita's eyes darkened with something warm and intense. she slid her hand up to the side of the hero's neck, her thumb resting just beneath her jawline. "because you always seem to find me. no matter where i am."

ahyeon's breath hitched. through the thin material of her mask, she could feel the heat radiating from pharita's palms. "i... i have police scanners."

"liar," pharita whispered.

she leaned in closer, her chest pressing lightly against ahyeon's. the contrast between pharita's soft silk and the sleek, textured superhero suit was intoxicating. pharita's gaze flicked down to ahyeon's masked lips.

"can i?" pharita asked softly.

ahyeon couldn't speak. she just nodded.

slowly, meticulously, pharita's fingers hooked under the bottom of the mask. she peeled it up, exposing ahyeon's chin, then her lips, stopping just beneath her nose to keep her eyes hidden. ahyeon's lips were trembling slightly.

pharita smiled, a tender, captivated expression. "beautiful," she murmured.

then, pharita leaned in and closed the distance. the kiss was soft at first, a gentle, testing pressure. but as ahyeon let out a quiet sigh, her hands instinctively found pharita's waist, pulling her flush against her body. the sleek, tight fabric of the suit offered no barrier to the heat of the embrace. pharita gasped softly into the kiss, her hands tangling in the white fabric of ahyeon's hood, pulling her deeper.

it was thrilling, dangerous, and incredibly sweet. ahyeon's heart was hammering so loudly she was sure pharita could hear it. pharita's hands slipped down the smooth back of the suit, marveling at how firm and toned the hero was. the sheer adrenaline of kissing the city's protector while her boyfriend could return at any moment made pharita's head spin.

when they finally parted, their breaths came in shallow puffs. pharita rested her forehead against ahyeon's masked one, her fingers tracing the edge of the pulled-up fabric.

"you're a very distracting hero," pharita whispered, her lips brushing ahyeon's chin.

"you're... a very distracting civilian," ahyeon managed to reply, her hands still resting warmly on pharita's hips.

pharita giggled, a sound that made ahyeon's inner nerd want to melt into a puddle on the polished marble floor.

"come back tomorrow night?" pharita asked, her eyes shining with hope. "i'll make sure i'm alone."

ahyeon pulled her mask back down, hiding the massive, goofy grin on her face. she stepped backward toward the open balcony, the cool wind catching her hood.

"i'll be watching," ahyeon said, giving a two-finger salute before diving backward off the ledge into the glittering seoul night.

inside, pharita watched her swing away, her heart racing, already counting down the hours until tomorrow.
