It was a regular day for Kathy. She woke up at 6am, took a quick shower, got dressed, did her makeup, her hair and ate breakfast. Nothing special, just the usual ritual before school.
While she was washing her plate after finished breakfas, her dad came in and disrupted her peace with one sentence.
-You will never guess who just called me.
Her father stated with excitement.
-It was Tom. He finally decided to settle down.
-Wait. This Tom? As in your best friend from childhood and millitary?
-Exactly.
Her mind started racing with thoughts. Thomas. The misterious man who has been gone for the last 7 years doing God knows what. Last time she saw him she was thirteen. Back then he was like a cool uncle that she always wanted to be with. Always following him around the house, always sitting near him, always making him take her everywhere with him. But that is the past. Now she is twenty years old. College student majoring in bussines and diplomacy. A grown woman.
-Anyways.
Her father said.
-It's your mothers birthday this weekend and we will be throwing a party so remember not to plan anything for Saturday.
-Yeah, yeah I'll remember.
Katherine quickly finished the dishes and went back to her room for her bag because she needed to leave in 15 minutes so she wouldn't be late for class.
She came downstairs in a hurry, put on her favourite black oversized lether jacket as well as her black and white nike sneakers
and rushed out the door.
While entering the campus, she caught up with her best friend.
-Mindy, I have some news that can't wait for after school.
-Girl, should I be worried?
-No.
-Then tell me why are you so eager on telling me whatever it is that you are thinking about?
-Remember that like 3 weeks ago on our sleepover at my house I told you about this best friend that my father had?
-Yeah, how could I forget him. Especially after those photos you showed me. That man in one of a kind.
-Well, my dad told me this morning that he's back in town.
-Wait, what? Wasn't he like on some work related trip or something for the last couple of years?
-Something like that.
-Why is he back all of a sudden?
-I have no idea. But it gets better. My parents are throwing a party this Saturday and I'm sure he will be there.
-That's...Actually how do you feel about that? Like are you excited or absolutely terrified?
-To be honest, I don't even know. But one thing I know for sure and it's that it will be interesting.
