Hello, my name is Takahashi Kitaro. I'm a second-year university student at Tokyo Institute of Technology and I work part-time at a grocery store near my house. Today, I had to go to school to submit an assignment I hadn't finished yet, and I ran into my friend Tanaka Haruto.

"Hey, Kitaro!" Haruto called out. "Haruto! Long time no see," I replied. "Why are you at school today? Don't you usually study online?" "I came to turn in my homework. I forgot to submit it earlier." "So, what are you doing after that?" "I don't really know." "Then wait for me! It's been ages since we hung out." "Alright, I'll wait."

After submitting my assignment, I had some time to spare, so I went to eat at my favorite place — Ichiran Ramen. I ordered a bowl of ramen, then bought a mango juice and waited for my friend. Honestly, it was kind of boring.

Two hours later...

Haruto finally showed up, and we went to the batting center to play baseball together.

"Hey, do you remember our math teacher?" Haruto asked. "Oh yeah, the one who always gave us impossible homework." "Well, he said you have to come tomorrow for the final exam." "WHAT?! Why?!" "He said no exceptions." "That's insane!" "Hey, Takahashi, do you still remember her — Watanabe Yuna?" "Uh... yeah." "Why did you two break up? I still don't get it." "It's normal, really. We just weren't compatible. No special reason." "I hope that's true." "Anyway, let's go eat. I'm starving." "Alright, let's go."

We went to a small restaurant and ordered food. "Man, the exam's tomorrow. This is crazy," Haruto said. "I'm a bit nervous too," I admitted. "Come on, you always get perfect scores. What are you worried about?" "Hmm... I don't know." "You're ridiculous," he laughed.

After an hour, Haruto got completely drunk and couldn't walk, so I had to drag him back to my place. When we got home, I dropped him on the floor — he was so heavy.

"Hey, Takahashi... I really feel bad that you broke up with Yuna," he mumbled. "......" "I thought you two would be together forever. You both tried so hard. I feel sorry for you, man. You've changed a lot since she left, but it's okay. No matter what, I'll always be your friend."

I was surprised that he could say something so heartfelt. I wanted to reply, but when I turned around, he was already snoring loudly. I got annoyed and kicked him lightly, but still gave him a blanket and a pillow — after all, he's my friend.

Then I took a shower to relax. Memories of my ex came flooding back. I couldn't tell Haruto the real reason we broke up — that's a secret I don't want anyone to know. After showering, I climbed into bed. Tomorrow's the math exam, so I need to sleep early to have enough energy to do well. Haizz...
