__________
L'manberg is in crisis. It isn't recent news to any citizen of L'manberg that we're going through financial crises, and besides that, the enemy nation has declared a very intense war against us. We're desperate, we don't know what to do, on one hand we don't have enough money to keep the nation alive, on the other we're facing a future war. My father has been extremely irritated, I know he's the typical lunatic politician, but seriously. I've never seen him this nervous before, he's unnecessarily rude to any employee, leaves his office messy. It isn't the first time since the enemy announced the war that you've heard a loud bang against the walls, Schlatt has an unhealthy relationship with refined wooden walls.
But by some very lucky prayer, we were given a miracle. Maybe even the revolution of a new era, one with lots of money, you know why? Simply because the kingdom of The End reached out to us, it wants to propose a partnership, I have no idea what this agreement is or why the kings of The End want to make it specifically with us. Like... not wanting to disrespect my nation, but disrespecting it anyway, we're basically L'manberg, the most destroyed nation in recent times, a royalty as powerful as them wanting to do business with us is intriguing.
Well, the famous mystical creatures live there. As my father prefers to call them, the crazy long-legged creatures, or sometimes he simply calls them insufferable, he said they're annoying when it comes to making alliances, actually, they're annoying about anything. But I don't think that's it, even though they're extremely intimidating and frightening, they're Endermen, come on, who doesn't find an Enderman fascinating? Their king literally has a fucking giant dragon.
But now, back to reality, the big moment has arrived, I'm sitting on a bench in the corner of the office, my father is closing deals with The End, I stay quiet, but my goat ears strain themselves to hear the conversation between them. My hands squeeze the brown padding of the bench, I'm anxious, I admit it.
"Hum... You're looking for a Trainer? Did I understand that correctly?" Schlatt says, reading one of the papers from the paperwork in his hand, one of the Endermen sent here tilts his head, probably not understanding our language, they start talking to each other in their own language, they were two gigantic Endermen, I'm almost certain they were part of an important part of The End's government, after that short conversation, one of the Endermen begins his speech. "Yes, we are looking for a trainer for the prince, your royalty proposed alliances if the agreement is made." He states.
I widen my eyes, a trainer? For the prince? Why would they look specifically to us? Sure, we're great at war when it comes to fighting, but it's pretty obvious that other nations are better, there's no doubt about it. And now? If we don't have a trainer, are we simply going to lose an ally that could change our future! I honestly don't care about my father's financial or political issues, but I care about our citizens, I can't imagine all those children going hungry, much less innocent women dying because of a stupid war! Shit, just thinking about it makes me angry.
"Ah, really? Right, you found one." Schlatt states confidently, he intertwines his hands and rests his chin on them. I get startled by how confident his posture is, he speaks in a tone of irony that's almost imperceptible. But wait a little, they found one? I can't believe Schlatt is lying, and what if everything goes wrong later and they revolt against us? But after all, who is this supposed Trainer?! "Tubbo, my son is a great Trainer for this kind of person."
What, no! Absolutely not! Am I a good Trainer? Even if I am, this isn't right, I'm not good enough to train an Enderman. If it were anyone else, maybe, but it's the prince, and what if everything goes wrong because of me? Besides, I have every right to not want to be anyone's trainer, I can simply continue living my life with my friend Tommy, I know the war is coming and we could all die, but come on... Everyone is going to die one day, aren't they?
It doesn't take long before he signs some papers and dismisses the large creatures, he takes them to the door of the fancy office, sending them on their way.
He closes the door, goes back to his chair and lights a cigarette, this is a celebration, smoking without any commitment is his way of expressing his victory. But I don't accept this! I may not have the power to speak up, but I know my rights. I stand up, the old wooden floor creaks with my footsteps as I walk toward his desk, I position myself in front of him, the only thing separating us is the central desk, I try to keep a tough posture, even though my hands are trembling.
"How did you do that? I don't want this!"
I say firmly, my voice burning with my sense of injustice. He simply takes a drag from his damn cigarette and blows the smoke into my face, I slap my hand against my chest as I begin to cough.
"You don't want it? And when did this become about what you want, Tubbo?" He pauses, I feel a huge knot in my throat, my shoulders are tense with nervousness.
"Don't change the subject, I have the right to disagree with this job." I keep my posture.
But not for long, Schlatt coldly drops his cigarette on the floor, he gets up from his chair, my heart begins pounding hard, I feel the sweat on my forehead as my hand grips my shirt tightly.
He stands in front of me, but now there is no desk, only the two of us, face to face, alone in that horrible place. "You have no rights here. You are my servant, understood?" He stares firmly into my eyes, I just nod hesitantly, his gaze is frightening, I don't want to maintain eye contact with him, the bottomless look in his eyes gives me chills.
"Tubbo, I want to hear your voice! I demand it!" Without warning, he grabs my chin tightly, forcing me to look at him. My body goes into alert, my chest starts hurting, I can't breathe, what's happening to me?!
"Yes..." I say while holding back my tears, I can't show weakness now, that will only make what's already bad even worse. Schlatt tightens his fingers around my chin. "Aren't you the one who gives speeches about innocent lives on that damn stage?!" He yells, making my body flinch in fear, I just want to get out of here.
"If you care so much about them, do it for them, for us." He finishes, carrying impurity and a soul without empathy, he deliberately pushes me, I fall to the floor, finally managing to catch my breath, my jaw hurts like never before, how can a monster like that be my father? He is so heartless about his own people and still has the nerve to intimidate me with bullshit about empathy, how hilarious coming from you, Schlatt. When he finally slams the door, I can be sure that I'm alone, I automatically start crying.
I just wanted to have my rights, I don't want to be responsible for a damn contract, if everything goes wrong everyone will hate me, everything will be my fault because I'm a big stupid idiot. I remain on the floor, my anger is at its peak and escapes through a painful scream, filled with deep hatred, accompanied by my fist hitting the floor, I no longer hide my crying. Some employees pass by and look at me through the crack in the door, I let them listen, I don't care what they think of me, I want to free myself from this anger, from this unjust world, I want you to go to hell Schlatt! I hate you, I hate you with all my strength! I hope you suffer so much that I can laugh at your misery, if it weren't for you, everything would be normal and I wouldn't be this useless being.
"I hate you, Schlatt!" I scream with my trembling, tearful voice, I want to be free, someone get me out of here, please...
End of chapter.
