“Ah Mrs. Monroe,” a cheerful voice called from behind her, “I’m sorry it took me so long, how are you?”
She took the extended hand of Mr. William Lee Kim, the man with three first names, and returned the warm smile that crinkled the corners of those almond eyes.
“I’ve been better, can always be better,” she said sarcastically, “and you?”
“Busy, but with cold season bearing down on us it’s to be expected. Can’t complain, it is good for business after all,” he winked at her.
“This is true, but what did you need me for?” as if she couldn’t guess.
The consultation was just a way for them to exchange info.
“Well,” he began, pulling one the prescription bottles out of the bag he had brought with him.
At a glance it looked completely legitimate, all the letters in the right place, but at closer inspection you could see things were off. The picture wasn’t of a pestle and bowl, but of a bow and arrow shooting for the heavens. The address would put the pharmacy somewhere in the inlet, and the number was actually short a digit. Every bottle had a different name, a different address for any number of different places across Victoria. Some were businesses, restaurants, empty lots even, all randomly chosen but double checked to make sure they didn’t belong to the Angels or their associates.
Will trusted his entire team, knew not a one of them would breech his cover knowing he wasn’t doing it for profit. As a matter of fact he took a loss for the prescriptions he handed out. He never expected payment though Sera was more than happy to pay out of pocket, she had the money after all, and above that she needed him. She couldn’t let him go under no matter the reason.
“I think there may be chance your antibiotics may not be effective, if you’ve seen certain foreign countries as of late that is.”
“Such as?” she asked slowly.
He glanced behind her and leaned on the narrow ledge dividing them, “I hear London has been looking pretty appealing lately, perhaps you’ve been there?”
Oh, so that’s what he was getting at. She should have guessed as much seeing that the prescriptions weren’t actually for her so her traveling wouldn’t affect anything. Another reason why their code names were so important, it gave them some freedom to discuss matters in public…however cryptically.
“I wouldn’t know, though you’re the second person to recommend seeing it.”
“Have you at least looked into visiting?”
“I was planning on it, but my requests for information have been left unanswered.”
Now Will frowned.
“But…I thought you were an expert on London; I thought you knew everything happening there?”
“Apparently not,” Sera grumbled.
Will nodded in understanding but Sera could tell he was holding something back.
“What’s wrong? What aren’t you telling me?”
“Nothing,” he shook his head absentmindedly, “I would have figured she’d need her big sister after what I heard.”
“Heard?” Sera raised her eyebrows, “what have you heard?”
“Besides the fact that your…passport has been revoked?” he asked conversationally, “yes I know. I heard it from your brother this morning,” he raised a hand and waved it off as if it didn’t matter, “but I have it from my own sources that London has been…well let’s just say it’s not looking as pristine as it should, pretty rundown actually.”
