As Wooyoung watches the sun sink further into the horizon, he can only think about one thing. He knows he shouldn't but its been weighing on him for weeks.
Here I am on a picnic date with the love of my life at dusk, while he's stringing together daisies next to me and I can only think of all the bad things.
Wooyoung's mind was always good for ruining his good moods, but he hated that it had to be now. Why now? This is nothing new, and San was aware of everything going on in Wooyoungs mind. Though he never brought it up, he could always tell when something was bothering him. San knows that Woo tries to ignore it in effort to not ruin the moment, but San never seen it that way. The love he feels for Wooyoung is unimaginable. There's nothing he could ever say or do to make San feel like he "ruined the moment." He took Wooyoungs mental health very seriously.
San knew that he could never tell anyone about Wooyoung, but he always dreams about shouting it from the rooftops. Walking casually holding hands, going on dates in public, and taking pictures together in front of the waterfalls. The dark and the light were forbidden to associate with each other and they knew that, but they're relationship is magnetic. They can't help themselves. They're drawn to each other. Their connection feels like a gift from something, no, someone higher up. But also a curse from the worst of the evil from below.
Loving someone so much you'd risk your life to be with them was so bittersweet. In a way, the boys enjoyed sneaking around like teenagers at midnight, but a part of them always wanted to know what it would be like to love each other out loud. But this is all they've ever known.
San came from Corshire, an eerie town full of grand statues and blackwater fountains at town square. A town where the citizens only awake in the night and the sky is always dim. Everyone has fangs that they're bloodline hasn't used for their intended purpose in years, since the rebellion of the dryads against the vampires of Corshire.
It goes without saying that the dryads that call Willowyn "home" lost the war. They're not necessarily under the control of Corshire, but they try to avoid conflicts with them at all costs. Corshire's wanted nothing more than to have complete control over Willowyn. A dryad and a vampire speaking would cause an uproar on its own, but a dryad and a vampire dating would definitely be more than a conflict of interest.
Wooyoung tries to clear his head of all the "what ifs" with no success. The anxiety of being caught and what would happen weighs on him like a ton of bricks. Almost like pressure from the atmosphere pushing on his shoulders. But there's nothing he loves more than spending time with San.
Wooyoung snaps out of his trance when San gently places a flower crown made from the daisies he's been stringing together for the past half hour on his head.
San gazes at Woo with such softness, like a bed of moss. "Perhaps you want to talk about it?" San sits up to be face to face with Woo as he tucks a piece of Wooyoungs silver hair behind his ear.
How can a person born in such darkness be soft and bright?
"No love, let's just enjoy our time together." Woo says with a heavy heart. He repositions himself closer to San, resting his head on his shoulder.
"You must go to sleep at some point you know, you cannot consistanly stay up with me." Wooyoung finds Sans slightly Victorian vocabulary quite endearing. San has never been afraid to tell the truth. He wants to see his baby more than anything, yes. But he can't stand the thought of him getting no sleep for days just because he can't be out while the sun is up.
The darkness and the light have been chasing each other since the dawn of time. The moon and the sun rarely convene, for no more than some hours. Their meetings are always bittersweet, and never last long enough.
