Dear Reader,
Before you begin Interlinked, I want you to know that this story is not about perfect people or perfect love.
It is about two people who are still learning who they are.
Alex and Emery make mistakes. They misunderstand each other. They hide their feelings. They let pride speak when they should have spoken themselves. Sometimes they choose the wrong people, and sometimes they simply choose themselves.
And that's what makes their story matter.
I wanted Interlinked to be about more than romance.
I wanted it to be about the years that change us.
The friendships we make.
The people we lose.
The memories we carry.
The things we wish we had said sooner.
The fear of being vulnerable.
And the terrifying realization that sometimes the person who understands you best is the person you spend the longest time trying not to need.
Alex and Emery don't find their way to each other because everything suddenly becomes easy.
They find each other because they grow.
They learn how to communicate.
They learn how to forgive.
They learn that being strong doesn't mean never needing anyone, and that loving someone doesn't mean losing yourself.
Most importantly, they learn that timing can change everything.
Maybe you've ever had someone in your life who felt strangely familiar.
Someone you couldn't completely forget.
Someone you wondered about years after you stopped talking.
Maybe you have loved someone at the wrong time.
Maybe you have wondered what could have happened if you had said something sooner.
If you have, I hope you find a little piece of yourself somewhere in these pages.
And if you haven't, I hope Alex and Emery's story reminds you that some of the most important connections in our lives aren't always obvious when they begin.
Thank you for opening this book.
Thank you for giving these characters your time.
And thank you for allowing their story to become part of yours.
With love,
Ana...
