AUNT MAY (Vera Farmiga) is folding laundry. There's a "Welcome Back Midtown!" banner from last year still up.
PETER PARKER (Mason Thames) slips in through the window. Hair wet. Smells like rain. Brand New Day suit stuffed in his backpack.
AUNT MAY
(not looking up)
Library again, Peter?
PETER
(way too fast)
Yeah. Group project. With Gwen.
(He freezes). (Too specific).
AUNT MAY
(smiles)
Gwen Stacy? Nice girl. Very smart.
(beat)
You should invite her for dinner sometime.
PETER
(whisper)

He kisses her cheek and bolts to his room.

Peter drops his bag. Pulls out his phone.

"ep 1 of Legends of Tomorrow podcast drops at midnight. 'Sewer Gator in Flushing?' don't listen it's dumb"
TEXT FROM MJ WATSON (Sadie Sink):
"if u die on night 1 of junior year i will personally haunt u"
PETER
(typing back to MJ)
"challenge accepted"
He opens his journal. Scribbles:
"Brand New Day suit holding. Web-shooters upgraded. Year 2. Don't die."
His Spider-Sense PINGS.
CUT TO:
EXT. FLUSHING TRANSIT - STORM GRATE - NIGHT
TikTok Livestream. TONY "TINY" MCKEEVER (Walker Scobell) smirking at camera.
TINY
"alright bet. midnight challenge. who's scared of a little water--"
The water in the grate ripples. Something huge moves. A scaled hand shoots up, grabs Tiny's ankle.

(SCREAMING)
"WHAT THE F--"
The stream cuts to black.
BACK TO PETER
Peter watches the repost on Gwen's podcast page. Comments already: "CGI" "fake" "prank bro"

(whisper, pulling on mask)
That wasn't a gator.

Peter swings out into the dark. Brand New Day suit catching moonlight. Red and blue. White lenses.
PETER (V.O.)
August 30th. First night of Junior Year.
And Queens already wants blood.
