Felicity Bloodstone had never been particularly interested in any of the new students who arrived, whether it was at the start of the year or in the middle.

But there was something different about the boy standing beside Professor McGonagall at the front of the great hall.

He was tall for his age, with dark curly hair falling messily over his forehead. His eyes so dark they seemed almost black beneath the candlelight.

The entire hall had fallen silent most of the students immediately recognising him from the daily prophet on numerous occasions.

"This is Mattheo Riddle."

McGonagall announced loudly making sure to draw everyone's attention to her,

"He will be joining us at Hogwarts this year starting as a third-year student."

Quiet whispers and murmurs instantly spread across the room with people exchanging worried glances.

Riddle.

Felicity's hand tightened around her goblet, her eyes flashing with realisation.

She had heard that name before.

Everyone had.

Voldemort.

The darkest wizard the magical world had ever known.

His son?

Joining Hogwarts?

Surely not.

Mattheo glanced around the great hall acting as though none of the whispers mattered.

Then as if by chance his eyes found Felicity.

For a split second, neither of them looked away.

His expression was almost unreadable.

Felicity felt her cheeks go pink and broke the stare first.

"Bloodstone."

She looked up

Draco Malfoy was sitting across from her.

"What?"

"You're staring."

"I wasn't!"

Draco smirked widely

"You absolutely were."

Before Felicity could respond, McGonagall had already directed Mattheo towards the Slytherin table.

Mattheo confidently strode past them and as he passed Felicity, he whispered just loud enough for her to hear -

"Nice name."

She frowned.

"what?"

Mattheo glanced back.

"Bloodstone"

Then he continued to keep walking.

Felicity watched him sit down near the empty end of the table away from the other slytherin students.

She didn't know it yet, but that boy was about to change everything.
