Ginny
Jayna is currently in time-out. Not because she keeps taking my hair tie when we go out. Because she looked me dead in the eye, stole my ice tea I paid for, and has the audacity to say, "sharing is caring" while sipping MY drink.
Apparently you call this friendship. But I call it jail time, for like a twenty fifth time this month. She's been staring at a bark tree for five minutes while I'm on bench duty patrolling her.
She takes another sip. Slow. On purpose. Her lips are slightly curved into a smile. And she doesn't even look at me when she does it. She turns around, holding the cup towards me shaking her wrist with my hair tie on it. "Would you like some, officer?"
"No. And that's evidence now." I say flatly, still staring at her wrist. My hair tie. With her little brown hair stuck on it. She laughs, putting a hand on her chest.
"So you're refusing my bribe? That's so un-officer-like." I glare. Crossed arms. Tighter. She puts her hands up to surrender. And I have to bite my lip so I don't laugh. Jayna crawls over to the bench, placing the cup beside me. Patting it, "Enjoy."
The ice is already melted because she held it the whole time. I rise from my seat pointing at the drink shop. "I would enjoy a fresh drink." Jayna frowns, staring at the cup she sipped, my name is still printed on it.
"Fine, I'll buy you another one." We both walk under the trees towards the shop. I put my hands in my pockets breathing in the fresh air while Jayna is skipping behind. As soon as we enter, the cold air washes over us making Jayna grab onto my arm. She hates the cold.
"You're back! The drink was really good huh?" The cashier asks us. "It was great! We just came back to see you. You're quite cute." Jayna says, wining at her. The woman giggles as I clear my throat.
"Same drink, please." I shift my arm around Jayna's, and she slides the money over without another word. The cashier takes it as we sit at an empty seat.
Jayna kicks my shoe under the table, that meant she is sorry. "So am I forgiven, officer?" Her palm rests on her chin as she looks at me with puppy eyes. I sigh, nodding slowly.
Behind us, the cashier laughs, handing me my drink. "You two are so cute together." Jayna doesn't even blink. "I know." I choke on my drink. And she takes my hand out of the shop.
"Want to head back home? I have something fun in mind."
