Chapter 1

I had planned the entire weekend carefully. Saturday would be for finishing the pending assignment notes Raju had borrowed from me two days earlier. Once those were back in my hands, Sunday would be completely free—no lectures to prepare for, no last-minute scrambling. I could sleep in, meet friends, or simply do nothing. That was the plan.

Then I remembered the real reason the plan felt incomplete.

Raju's mother.

Ramya Auntie.

The thought of her had been sitting at the back of my mind ever since the last time I had stood at their front door. College life had made the visits rarer, but every time I did go, my eyes found the same things—her waist, the soft roll of her belly above the low-tied saree, the deep, round navel that seemed to collect the afternoon light, and the slow, heavy sway of her hips when she walked away.

I told myself I was only going for the notes. I even repeated it under my breath while I locked my room and stepped out into the warm Saturday afternoon. But my body already knew better. My pulse had started climbing the moment I turned into their lane.

Their house looked the same as always—neat outer walls, a small potted plant near the door, the brass nameplate catching the sun. I stood there for a few seconds longer than necessary, letting the anticipation settle into something heavier. Then I pressed the doorbell.

The chime echoed inside. Footsteps approached, soft against the floor. The lock turned.

The door opened, and there she was.

Ramya Auntie stood in the doorway wearing a black saree with a thin golden border. The fabric clung to her in the way only a well-worn, slightly damp cotton-silk blend can. It sat low on her hips—deliberately low. The upper edge of the saree rested a full two fingers below her navel, leaving a wide band of soft, dusky skin completely bare. Her belly was full and rounded, the kind that moved with every breath. A faint horizontal fold sat just above the deep, dark navel, and another softer fold rested below it, disappearing into the tight waist of the saree. The navel itself was large and perfectly round, the skin around it smooth and slightly shiny, as if she had just applied oil.

Her blouse was half-sleeved and cut high in the front, but the back was almost nothing—just two thin straps that left the entire length of her spine and the soft rolls of flesh along her sides exposed. When she shifted her weight from one foot to the other, the skin of her lower back caught the light, and I saw the deep dimples just above the curve of her hips.

She smiled the moment she saw me, warm and unguarded.
