The first thing that registers upon opening your eyes is the pain. Your palms, they burn and itch with so much intensity that you feel like crying.
Where the hell are you?
You're in an alleyway. It's raining. It smells awful. If you had eaten recently, you're sure you'd be resisting the urge to throw it all up.
And your body feels different, too. You feel so tiny and helpless right now. You look down at your palms, only to see that your hands are much smaller than you remember them. And right there, in the middle of your palms, sit two small holes.
Wait— holes? Are you seeing that right?
Something is wrong. That much is clear. The last thing you remember is falling asleep in your bed, but now you're here.
Is this some kind of lucid dream?
It all feels so real, though. You're in so much pain, and you're so cold and wet, that it truly feels like you're awake.
But seriously, none of this makes sense! You have to be asleep right now!
You pinch your arm and slap your face to force your body to wake up, which unfortunately doesn't work. You groan in frustration before thinking to yourself.
Firstly, it's best to figure out just what just happened to your body, right? You need to look into a mirror to see your reflection. There's none nearby, so you guess you'll have to make do with something else.
You shuffle towards the nearest puddle on the ground, and your jaw nearly drops to the floor at your reflection staring back. It's you, of course, but... much, much younger. You're a toddler!
You're pretty filthy, too. Dirt covers your body and face despite the rain, dirtying your clothes. Your arms have scars you don't remember gaining, and your eyes... they just look wrong.
You have no pupils. Your eyes are so dull, without even the slightest reflection shining through them. They're the same color as before, but clearly something has changed.
This is getting really weird. You want to wake up, but you don't know how.
Maybe you should ask someone where you are. You read somewhere that if you're lucid dreaming, and you go and tell others that you're all in a dream, they'll react in such a creepy way that it forces you to wake up.
That's what you'll do, then. Force yourself awake by socializing. Slowly but surely, you manage to stand up. You then stumble out of the alley, before bumping into someone's side and falling straight to the ground.
"Hey! watch where you're going, kid!" A man yells at you, and you can't help but gawk at him. Right there, sitting on his forehead, is a set of horns. Actual, real life horns.
No way. No fucking way. What's wrong with that guy? Why does he have horns? Is he even human?
The man scoffs and walks off, and you can only tell yourself that this is just part of the creepy dream you're having.
You stare at the man until he walks out of view, and once again you stand up from the ground and brush yourself off. This time, you're much more careful about where you move your uncoordinated body.
