My thoughts on the book:

My thoughts on this book are varied at best. In this book, in the beginning Harry hasn't heard from any of his friends, and he is dealing with the death of Cedric from the fourth book all on his own. Dementors attack him and his cousin and Harry have to use magic to save them both. He is also given a trial about what happened that night, but he wasn't really given a chance to explain. When Harry and his friends go back to Hogwarts, they find that the new DADA teacher is someone from the ministry by the name of Dolores Umbridge. She is not really teaching the students anything real. She only has them reading theory and ignoring the practical side of the class. For the fifth and seventh year students this is not good. They have their O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s during those years and part of those tests are a practical part of the test where they have to use spell that they should know for that year. I don't know is Umbridge even had a mastery for DADA to even teach the class, but I doubt she did. Harry, Hermione and Ron create a group of students to help learn spells and how to defend against attacks out in the real world. The headmaster is at one point driven from the school because of the ministry. Towards the end of the book Harry and his friends go to the ministry because Harry thinks that Voldemort has his godfather there and torturing him. During the battle at the ministry there is one death and that death is Sirius Black, Harry's godfather. Harry watches as Sirius falls into the Veil. When Harry gets back to the school and talks to Dumbledore, he learns about the prophecy about him and Voldemort from sixteen years ago. The second war is about to start, and they are way behind on how to prepare to fight against Voldemort and his followers.
