Bangkok had barely begun to wake when the headquarters of Aegis Elite Security was already alive with activity.

Unlike most private security firms, Aegis didn't advertise on billboards or social media. Its clients found it through recommendations whispered between CEOs, ambassadors, celebrities, and members of Thailand's wealthiest families. The company specialized in high-risk executive protection, event security, and crisis management, taking only a handful of contracts each year. Their acceptance rate was notoriously low, and their standards were infamously high. Every bodyguard on their roster had military, police, or special operations experience, and each had passed the personal evaluation by the company's founder.

Inn Jakkrasin Atsavatanacha.

At precisely seven-thirty in the morning, the elevator doors opened onto the executive floor.

The conversations in the operations room quieted almost instantly.

Not because anyone had been told to stop talking.

Simply because Inn had arrived.

Dressed in a charcoal-gray suit that fit him like it had been sewn directly onto his frame, Inn strode through the office with his usual measured pace. A leather messenger bag rested over one shoulder while a black motorcycle helmet hung loosely from his left hand. His expression remained unreadable, the same calm mask his employees had become accustomed to years ago.

"Morning, Boss," one of the analysts greeted.

"Morning, sir."

"Good morning."

Inn acknowledged each greeting with a slight nod.

No unnecessary words.

No wasted movements.

His assistant, Narin, fell into step beside him the moment he reached his office.

"You have three meetings today," Narin began as he handed over a neatly organized tablet. "The first is with Siam Entertainment regarding executive protection for one of their artists. After that, there's the embassy consultation, followed by the security audit for the Arakawa Group."

Inn skimmed through the schedule.

"Any overnight incidents?"

"None involving our clients."

"Good."

"There was one inquiry from a football club asking if we'd provide stadium security."

"No."

"I thought you'd say that."

Aegis had a simple philosophy.

Quality over quantity.

Inn refused contracts that stretched his personnel too thin or fell outside their area of expertise. It had earned him a reputation for being selective, but it had also earned Aegis an almost perfect success record.

Narin hesitated for a moment before speaking again.

"The meeting with Siam Entertainment..."

Inn looked up.

"They specifically requested someone experienced with celebrity protection."

"I've prepared four candidates."

"They're all among our best."

"I know."

Narin smiled knowingly.

"I have a feeling today's client won't be easy."

Inn's expression remained unchanged.

"They're a client."
