Prince's pov:
The sound of shuffling and a lighter flew around my ears. The high pitched noises of the bright box in my owners room faded into my perception. it made that noise every day when my owner picked up a thing he called a remote. He would always click around on its buttons to get the box to make noise.

He shuffled in his orange blankets again, loud enough this time for me to open my eyes. The first thing i looked at was always him, my owner. His hair was as vibrant as the collar he gave me when he found me that rainy day. He was pale and skinny like I was (except for my fur). I loved him to death everyday I lived.

He bared his teeth down at me. Between other dogs this is a warning, but everyone knows when humans do it, its friendly. I can feel the oxytocin humans release when they bare their teeth and it gives off a much friendlier vibe than when dogs do it.

When he bared his teeth the skin at the corner of his black eyes always creased when he was happy. I saw this from my dog bed and wagged my tail. I saw this as an invetation and got up onto his bed, which was squared and much bigger than mine. I sat beside him and curled up, laying my head on his thigh.

"Morning Prince!" My owner greeted me, taking the smelly stick from his mouth, that humans called "ciggarettes". I wagged my tail again and scooched closer to him. He stroked the short fur on my head and behind my ears. My ears perked up hearing a louder, higher frequency from the box beside his bed. I picked my head up, staring at the TV, expecting a mouse or a bird to come out from behind it. My owner gasped and teased me "Is something there boy??" the noise stopped and my ears went back down, mentally frowning. "Aw it's ok, there's nothing there anyway. It's just my TV."

"TV", i repeated the sound in my head. That's what humans call those boxes with noise... or some of the older humans call them "television". I forgot about the name a lot so i just knew it as a box with noise. I didn't care about their luxuries if it wasn't gonna taste or smell good. Sounds like "treat", "food" or "water" were the main three that excited me the most. Sometimes "outside" too, if I was feeling homesick. I didn't hate this place but, I miss the outside world every once in a while.

~Flashback~
The rain wooshed over the dog's pelt. It was almost painful how much it rained. Combined with pain in its paws from constant travel and always being hungry. The young dog was always sore, enough that it was used to the pain.

The dog was on another trek from his hideout, emerging to find food. He hadn't learned yet that prey always comes out after the rain, so he was always unsuccessful. He always ended up with a drenched coat, and muddy paws, which always made him more grumpy than before.

The shelter was going to put him down soon, and he'd heard it from the workers millions of times. The sound of them talking about all the shelter dogs that would have to leave those days. He was terrified of it, all the yelping and barking he heard from down the stretched hallway. Once his day had come to leave this world, he knew he had to put up a fight.

He managed to avoid all the workers' tricks and attempts on catching him. He always watched how the other dogs tried to escape, no matter how terrifying it was to watch, he had to know how to escape. As soon as he was beckoned into the crate that would lead him to that horrible room, he dashed out through the crevice between the crate and his room.

He followed the earthy scent of the tracks that the visitors left from outside. He ran just fast enough that the evil workers couldn't snatch him by the tail and drag him back in.

The dog's train of thought faded away when he got back to his hiding place. No success, again. The best he did this time was eat from other dogs' bowls he found on people's porches. It was gross and sodden with rainwater, but it had to do, if he wanted to stay alive.

One day on one of his hunting sessions, He saw a tall lanky man walking in the other side of the street. The bright hue of electric blue definetely caught his attention. He also had strange black eyes like some other stray dogs he saw around the neighborhood. The man noticed him at the same time and wearily crossed the street.

The brown furred dog sniffed the mans hand, which he didn't need to even lower, since his hands were down to his knees. The strange looking guy didn't smell like most strangers, or shelter workers, out looking for strays like him. He noticed this and wagged his tail, the stranger spoke up "C'mon, boy!" he motioned his hand to come with him, as he turned. The stray followed him to a foggy graveyard, with creepy, blue, gorilla shaped figures pacing in the distance.

The dog could smell their rotting scent from afar, making him anxious. He came closer to the blue haired man's side, as he guided the dog to a huge, steep hill. The pair walked up a path that looped around the hill and got to a huge, tall building. He was home.
~End of Flashback~

After a bit of thinking and looking back my past, my owner got up and tried not to trip on his music equipment on the floor, as he made his way out of our room. "Oh wait," He stopped at the door "I forgot to feed you..!" He came back in and filled up my water bowl and put my food in the other. I trotted over to my food, flicking his shin with my rongue as a thank you. His lanky form walked past me and exited the room.

I finished eating and heard the sound of Noodle squealing in the long hallway outside my room. She was another, younger person that lived at Kong along with a kind-heart, along with Murdoc who had an attitude as sour as a pickle, and Russel.

I was full and satisfied with breakfast, and went off to snooze in my dog bed. (It's not a dog bed it's a pink, fluffy mat i use as one). I walked in a circle, forming a kind of nest in the pink fluff and plopped down, sighing. I was off to sleep.
