For years, the monsters of Psychopath Street had spread fear wherever they went.
Freddy Kruger and the gang believed cruelty made them powerful. They mocked kindness, ignored compassion, and laughed at the suffering they caused.
One stormy night, after another terrible crime, the sky above Psychopath Street split with blinding crimson lightning.
The streetlights flickered.
The wind stopped.
A mysterious voice echoed through the empty neighborhood.
"Those who delight in cruelty will learn what it means to live with humility."
A burst of brilliant light surrounded Freddy and every member of the gang.
When the light faded...
Everything had changed.
Freddy looked into a shattered mirror.
"What happened to me?"
Staring back was a girl wearing Freddy's familiar striped sweater and hat.
The others cried out in confusion as they discovered they, too, had transformed into girls.
No one understood why.
Then the mysterious voice returned.
"Your appearance is not your punishment."
"Your hearts are."
"The curse will remain until each of you learns to respect one another, abandon cruelty, and choose compassion instead of violence."
Freddy scoffed.
"As if that's going to happen."
The voice answered calmly.
"Then remain as you are forever."
The storm disappeared.
Silence settled over Psychopath Street.
For the first time in years...
The monsters were afraid.
Not because they had become different.
But because they had finally met something they couldn't fight.
Their only hope of breaking the curse wasn't strength, revenge, or fear.
It was becoming better people.
And for Freddy...
That would be the hardest nightmare of all.
