2005

The rain poured and the sky lit up with lightning as the thunder rumbled loudly. Yui Kamo sighed as she withstood the rain, cleaning off the blood on her hands and face. She possessed the Blood Manipulation Technique, it allows the user to control blood inside and outside their body down to a cellular level. She believed it was a messy and disgusting technique that she inherited from her clan, the Kamo clan. Every clan was sick and twisted, mostly the Kamo and Zen'in clans. Both clans didn't value women or their contributions to the family lines, they were mostly tossed aside, and treated like garbage. She grew past that, she fought hard, trained herself and her technique all while disobeying the clan's expectations and rules. She left at sixteen and went to Jujutsu High School to become a better sorcerer. She realized that becoming a sorcerer fucking sucked. The elders of the society bossed sorcerers around and told them to go on missions that might emotionally and physically scar a person or possibly land them in a coffin.

A grade one curse almost killed her today, she fought by herself with no weapons besides her technique. As she thought to herself she was healing her cuts with the Reverse Curse Technique. Where a sorcerer multiplies negative cursed energy against itself to create positive energy. While cursed energy is used to fuel attacks, positive energy is used to heal wounds and regenerate lost body parts. She looked around before she put a pause on healing and headed back to Jujutsu High to her office. She was basically a nurse at the high school, it was very rare for adult sorcerers to successfully use the Reverse Curse Technique.

Yui stepped into her office, Shoko Ieiri, one of her first year students, was smoking as she sat on the medical table in the room.
"Shoko, what did I say about smoking in my office, or in general?" Yui asked, snatching the cigarette from her student's mouth and putting it out.
"Yeah, yeah, it'll get me sick and kill me," Shoko rolled her eyes playfully, her attitude nonchalant and easy-going, "Which doesn't make sense to me because I can easily heal anything with my technique."
"Not true, how can you heal yourself if you're already weak with lung cancer? The reverse curse technique can be finicky, especially since you don't practice enough or have energy when you come here to help me with other students," Yui explained, rubbing her temples before peeling back the torn sleeve of her shirt. The cut was deep, her thick blood just barely brimmed over the surface, her technique held the blood inside the skin.
"Jeez, Kamo-Sensei. What happened?" Shoko rushed over and started to help Yui mend the large cut.
"Fought a cursed spirit earlier, it landed a few blows but this one is the only bad one," Yui hissed in pain as the cut started stitching back together.
"You can fight curses?" Shoko said, surprised.
"Yes, of course I can. I have Blood Manipulation, reverse curse technique is just the bonus," Yui deadpanned at her student, moving over to her tall cabinet to look for a spare shirt, "Thanks for your help."
"No problem," Shoko said, turning around as Yui pulled a long black t-shirt over her head. She pulled the ribbon out of her hair, letting the dark waves of hair fall down her back before she twisted it back into a bun.
"How do you handle hair that long?" Shoko asked, crossing her arms.
"By taking good care of it," Yui shrugged, gathering her things.
"It doesn't bother you?" Shoko asked, tilting her head to the side.
"It does, but I'd rather not cut it. I had my hair as short as yours when I was your age and let's say it's not the best look for me. Besides, I've had more luck with guys with longer hair- maybe I shouldn't have said that to a student. I'm sorry, Shoko. That was inappropriate. Sometimes I forget you are not a co-worker," Yui rambled on as she put her bag over her shoulder.
"It's okay, I won't tell anyone. And maybe I should grow out my hair," Shoko said.
"I didn't say that, it looks cute like that," Yui ruffled Shoko's hair as she headed out of her office, "See you on Monday, Shoko. Don't smoke or drink for me."
"You know I won't listen, no point in telling me that, Sensei," Shoko chuckled, closing the door behind her. Yui rolled her eyes, as she walked in the opposite direction. The school's hallways were empty, typical on a Friday evening. Students have better things to do than hang out at their school on Fridays, sorcerers or not. Yui's footsteps were the only sound that rang through the quiet besides the air blowing in from the air conditioner.
