Dear Father,
Today was my first day out of the walls. The clear, blue sky stretched as far as the eye could see - a rare sight with wall Maria locking us away from the outside world. It was beautiful.
However, the battle was gruesome. Only what would appear in cruel horror books, or the creation of a twisted psychopath became the sight of the titans. A 6 metre with petrified eyes and curled hands set its eyes on me. At that moment, all fighting instinct I've ever had vanished. Fortunately, a more experienced scout saved me from being eaten.
The way the scout regiment worked was phenomenal. Commander Erwin amazed me with his skill around ODM gear and his leadership skills. I saw this boy, who must have been a new scout too, watching his comrades get eaten. He looked destroyed, traumatised even. Is that the reality of being a soldier?
As talented as he is, he couldn't save the people closest to him. If I don't have the skill, what will become of the people I love? I wish that I could hear your advice.
