It was a cold, rainy night in spring.

Seungmin just left by crawling out the window without his parents knowing and began to run as far and fast as possible from home again, this time bringing his backpack with him so he could stay somewhere where he finds it safe for tonight.

Seungmin was known for always running away from home because of his abusive parents, spending nights most of the time simply on the streets. His parents don't even hide how poorly they treat Seungmin, making the small fragile boy always get in trouble just to get his parents, alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes.

While Seungmin is still running in the rain, his thoughts drifting back to his home, and how his parents will punish him for leaving again. While looking at the ground, covering his head with the backpack, for his hair to not be really wet.

Suddenly, he bumps into someone.

Slowly and scared, Seungmin looks up, his eyes meeting a handsome guy's face that looks slightly annoyed.

The guy is tall, dressed in a fancy black suit, making his features stand out more to the open eye. He's got straight black hair with dark brown eyes that stare back into Seungmin eyes, making Seungmin feel very uncomfortable
about the whole situation.

Seungmin has never seen or interacted with other people rather than his parents and drug dealers, so, of course, panic struck into him, making him freeze into place while the cold rain is pouring over both of them heavily.

"Aren't you gonna apologize, then stare at me with that look on your face?" The man said harshly, staring at Seungmin directly in the eyes.

Seungmin stared back at the man, looking at him with big round eyes begging for forgiveness. His lips parted slightly, like he was about to speak. For a second, it almost looked like he would apologize, like the words were right there, ready to come out.

But nothing did.

Seungmin's throat tightened, and he quickly looked down at his shoes, fingers curling slightly at his side of the hoodie. It wasn't that he didn't want to answer. He did. He really did.

He just... couldn't.

The man looks confused at the boy in front of him, but one thing is clear to him, from the way Seungmin is acting and trembling, the boy needs assistance and help.

Before the man can even begin to speak again, he notices a big dark purple bruise on Seungmin's neck that goes down to hide underneath his hoodie. In that moment, he realizes what's going on and that this boy is in serious trouble.

"Did you get lost? Let's go to the police station to get you back to your parents." The man says softly, trying to understand the situation the boy is in.

Seungmin, at the hearing of the words "police" and "parents" he immediately looks up at the man, grabbing him by the arm with a bit of pressure, but in a way it does hurt, staring into his eyes scared and terrified, trembling worse than before. He didn't like the idea at all since he knew that it would cause trouble for his parents and him getting caught running away.

The man flinches at Seungmin's sudden touch, not expecting such a strong reaction and panic into Seungmin's eyes.

Slowly, he looks around the street, scanning for any potential danger. Any sign of human or threat for the boy to be scared. Looking around, he realizes there is only him and Seungmin on the street left, still underneath the pouring cold rain.
He pats Seungmin's back carefully to not scare him more, slowly dragging him a bit with force by his sleeve of the hoodie to walk beside him.

"Come on, let's get you somewhere safe." The man says softly, walking with Seungmin by his side, making sure he is following and trusting him.

As they walk slowly to the safe place, Seungmin looks up at the man with a curiosity in his dark brown eyes.
The man, feeling the intense curiosity, looks from Seungmin. He decides to break the ice so it won't be this awkward.

"So, what's your name?" The man asks softly while kindly showing a smile on his face, making his face look way more handsome than before.

Seungmin's steps feel more heavy and slowed slightly at the question.

He parts his lips to answer, but again, nothing comes out, not a single sound. The silence feeling heavy between them. With Seungmin gripping into the man's sleeve more tightly than before.

The man, feeling the sudden strong grip, still waits for an answer, yet it never comes. Meanwhile, Seungmin feels hopeless and lowers his gaze to the ground with forming tears in his eyes.

That's when it clicks.

The man slowly takes Seungmin by the chin to face his face better and starts to speak gently.

"You can't speak, can you?"

Seungmin shakes his head "No" immediately and slowly shows the man a necklace he is wearing with the name "Seungmin" written on it.

"Seungmin..." The man whispers more to himself, trying to remember the name. "Well, I'm glad to meet you, Seungmin. I'm Christopher, but i go by Chan mostly." Seungmin, hearing his name and feeling understood, he nods, letting a small smile form on his face, the first time showing happiness since he met Chan.

After a few moments of silence between them, Chan decides to break the silence again.

"Let's just go, I will take you somewhere safe, alright?" Chan reassures Seungmin while walking both underneath the rain to a luxurious looking house.
