Kairu sat on his bed, pondering what shall occupy his long day. He let his eyes drift out his window and out onto the royal garden. He had been in the chambers all day long, just laying in his massive bed. A raven landed on the windowsill, chirping before flying off.
Kairu Kinamata, the doomed prince who hasn't found a mate yet. The one who would let the kingdom fail. He was already an omega, which was unusual for royal blood.
"The garden might be nice.." he whispered, mainly to himself- for there was no one else in the room.
Ah- the garden. The royal garden. You would think it would be more taken care of for it's title, but the gardener had gotten ill and fallen victim to death merely 4 months ago. The garden had been rotting away like his body since. Kairu had been more saddened for the garden than the one who ran it. A prince like himself should not get his hands messy in dirt. It is.. unethical..
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Kairu glances up at the mahogany door. "You may enter." He said- almost too quietly. A kind maid opened the door. "Your highness, your mother and father call for you in the throne room." She said, bowing. Kairu nodded. "Thank you.." He said.
His parents, the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Fable, will typically give him royal duties, but the throne room was not the usual place to discuss things.
He shrugged. Maybe they were trying something new.
Kairu starts walking towards the direction of the throne room. His descent was quiet on the floors. His footsteps never made noise, like he was a premature infant.
Kairu stopped before the tall door to the throne room. In a nearby mirror, he checked himself, making sure he was still looking sharp and fresh. He brushed off his shoulders, took a deep breath, and pushed the doors open.
Kairu walked in and bowed quickly for his parents, who quickly told him to rise. "Is something distressing you, mother and father? You don't usually call for duties in the throne room." Kairu said. His mother, Elenora, smiled sweetly. "Nothing troubles us sweetie."
"We're actually the ones worried about you."
His father's voice boomed loudly in the large room, echoing off the walls. Kairu blinked his green eyes, his ears ringing a bit. "Worried?" He said, "About me? You must be mistaken."
"Well.. you're aware about the assassination attempt last week.." Elenora said. Kairu sighed. The topic had been gossip around the kingdom for a long while, but actions were never carried out.
"You were informed it was a balloon hoax*, yes?" Kairu says. (*Balloon hoax- a myth created by an airhead, or in other words, an idiot).
"We are aware, but it got us thinking." Rue, his father, said. "Thinking?" Kairu repeats.
"We'd like to get you a bodyguard."
Kairu blinks. A bodyguard? He was no damsel in distress. "Who gave you this idea? The angel of the odd?" Kairu says.
"Now, now, Kairu. Be respectful and proper." Elenora said.
"I am in no need for a bodyguard. Thank you for the suggestion, but no." Kairu says. Elenora and Rue look at each other.
"Well... We already got him.." Rue says.
Kairu facepalms. Of course they got the bodyguard without his permission. Of COURSE they did.
"Kairu, at least just meet him first." Rue says. Kairu nods. There was no way out of this either way.
