Most people are asleep, wrapped in blankets and dreaming about tomorrow.
Kinsley wasn't.
She lay sprawled across her bed, her room illuminated only by the faint glow of fairy lights hanging above her window and the brightness of her phone screen. Sleep had escaped her hours ago, leaving her mind wandering through endless thoughts.
Buzz.
A notification lit up the screen.
Ty added you on Snapchat.
Kinsley furrowed her brows.
"Who is Ty?" she whispered to herself.
She tapped the notification, staring at the unfamiliar profile. No mutual friends. No explanation. Just a boy with a simple Bitmoji smile and a name she'd never heard before.
Normally, she ignored random adds.
But something about this one made her pause.
Maybe it was the late hour.
Maybe it was curiosity.
Or maybe it was fate quietly knocking at her door at exactly 2:13 in the morning.
After a moment of hesitation, she clicked Accept.
A few seconds passed.
Then another notification appeared.
Ty is typing...
Kinsley's heart beat a little faster as the message finally came through.
"Hey. I know this is random, but I saw your profile and thought you seemed really cool."
She smiled despite herself.
