PROLOGUE
Peoplealways said that first love stayed with you forever. Yoon Chaerin had never really believed that. From her experience, people left all the time. Friends changed schools, families moved away, and seasons passed without asking anyone for permission. Even the most beautiful things in life, like cherry blossoms in spring or your favorite song on an old MP3 player, eventually came to an end. Nothing was truly permanent, no matter how desperately people wished otherwise.
That was why she never understood why everyone loved making promises about the future.

The afternoon air carried the fresh scent of spring rain as Chaerin stood beneath the cherry blossom trees behind Eunjang High School. The branches above her swayed gently in the wind, causing pale pink petals to drift down like snow. Some landed on her shoulders, while others became tangled in her dark hair.
Hanging around her neck was her favorite possession: a small pink digital camera that she had owned for years. The corners were slightly scratched, and one of the stickers on the back had begun to peel away, but she loved it all the same.
She lifted the camera to her eye and carefully focused on the scene in front of her. A soft clicking sound followed. On the tiny screen appeared three familiar figures. Ahn Su-ho was laughing loudly while trying to defend his cup of instant ramen from Chaerin, who had shamelessly stolen a bite only a few minutes earlier. Beside him sat Yeon Si-eun, who looked thoroughly unimpressed by their childish argument even though the corners of his lips were threatening to turn upward. Chaerin smiled to herself as she looked at the picture.
