Working hard to live

I spent many months working a stupid dead end 9-5 job. I was unhappy, unsatisfied, and most importantly, broke. When I say broke, I mean BROKE!

I've always wanted to become an actor, but because I lived in Atlanta, getting gigs was hard. I worked really hard on my acting skills and applied for many different types of roles, but nobody wanted me. They all said I wasn't good enough, and that I should just give up on my dreams.

Today, that all changed.

It was no secret I was gay. I figured my sexuality was the cause of my rejections, so I decided to switch things up for this next gig I applied to. The role was a crime scene detective, trying to solve a 15 year old cold case. I did an audition thinking nothing of it until I received a letter in the mail.

I was finishing up eating breakfast and went outside to check my mail like usual. I never receive anything so I assumed nothing would be in there but I saw a letter. My eyes widened as I picked up the letter and saw the name of the company I auditioned for. I DARTED inside, slamming the door SHUT and slammed the letter on my dining room table.

"OH MY GOD!" Was this it? My acceptance letter? Did I finally land a job? I opened the letter slowly...

I slowly unfolded the letter, keeping my eyes shut. Once I felt the letter was unfolded I opened my eyes.

"Congratulations..." WAS ALL I NEEDED TO READ! I FINALLY DID IT! I LANDED MY FIRST GIG! I called everyone I knew.

I was expected there tomorrow.
