Jeon Jungkook, carrying a military backpack, jumped off the bus. Looking up, he could see the office building in Gangnam-gu; his comrades had told him it was the most impressive building in Seoul City.
Jungkook took out his phone, scrolled through his call log, and dialed a number.
"I've arrived."
"Wait at the entrance, I'll be right out," a resolute male voice replied from the other end of the line.
Jungkook hung up and walked towards the building entrance. After waiting for about two minutes, the person he was waiting for strode towards him.
"Jungkook-hyung, you've finally arrived!" Park Minjun approached Jungkook and punched him squarely in the shoulder.
Jungkook grinned.
Passersby glanced at Jungkook. Noticing the stares, Jungkook looked down at himself. "Is something wrong?"
Minjun also looked down, unable to suppress a chuckle. Jungkook's shirt was faded from washing, and his camouflage pants were tucked into dusty combat boots.
"Hey, Jungkook-hyung, come on, I'll take you to change your gear."
"No need, I have clothes to wear." Jungkook tossed his backpack.
"Hey, Hyung, when are you going to change your stingy ways?" Minjun put his arm around Jungkook's shoulder and led him into the building.
Minjun took Jungkook to the security room and gave him a uniform, complete with boots, a hat, and gloves.
"Come on, change, and you're ready to start work."
And so, with his comrade's help, Jungkook found his first job.
Jungkook looked completely different in his uniform, exuding a commanding presence. Perhaps it was the tempering of over a decade of military service. Normally lazy and unkempt, Jungkook transformed dramatically when he focused on his work, almost like a rebirth.
Minjun gave Jungkook a brief explanation of his daily duties and precautions.
Minjun greatly admired Jeon Jungkook; he was one of Jungkook's soldiers, and, according to veterans, Jungkook had served in the army for 15 years.
Compared to him, Park Minjun, who had been in the army for three to five years, was practically insignificant. Before they knew it, it was six o'clock in the evening. Unfortunately for Jungkook, he was assigned to the night shift on his first day, while Minjun had already gone home.
Jungkook was on night watch with a man named Lee Donghyun.
Donghyun was incredibly outgoing, chattering incessantly in Jungkook's ear, "Hey, by the way, Jungkook-hyung, what do you want to eat? I'll get you something."
"Anything is fine," Donghyun replied sullenly. He hated "anything is fine" the most!
He really wanted to ask where he could buy any kind of drug!
Donghyun left the monitoring room looking dejected.
Jungkook was left alone, staring at the wall of surveillance cameras. Because some companies in the building still had employees working overtime, almost every camera in the monitoring room was running.
Jungkook quickly reviewed each camera, and suddenly his eyes fell on a camera in the corner of the parking garage.
He saw a man in a suit slowly emerging from the elevator, his steps unsteady. Jungkook glanced at him, then got up and headed towards the underground parking garage.
He had specifically consulted Minjun during the day about the building's layout and floor plan, so he found the spot on the surveillance footage almost effortlessly.
Jungkook immediately recognized the man from the footage. He was currently resting his right hand on a car, his face flushed, but his eyes clear.
Jungkook understood at a glance that the man had likely been drugged.
At that moment, the elevator to Jungkook's right seemed to be running. Jungkook stepped forward, picked up the man, who was limp, and looked at him warily.
"Do you want him to find you?"
The man lowered his eyes, silently yielding. Jungkook placed the man behind the car. Just as he stood up, the elevator doors opened, and Jungkook pretended to begin his patrol.
The person inside the elevator rushed out, glanced at Jungkook, looked around for a moment, and then quickly ran towards the exit.
Jungkook immediately turned back, hoisted the man onto his shoulder, and the man began to struggle again. "He'll be back!"
Upon hearing this, the man actually stopped moving. Jungkook carried the man away quickly.
Jungkook returned to the monitoring room, placed the man on the sofa, and sure enough, the man who had just come out of the elevator returned to the garage, looking around suspiciously.
"Bang!!"
Jungkook looked towards the doorway from which the sound came. Sure enough, Donghyun appeared the next moment. "Hyung, I'm back! I brought you..."
Before Donghyun could finish speaking, he saw someone on the sofa against the wall. Upon closer inspection, Donghyun felt that the person looked very familiar.
"Kim, President Kim..." Donghyun subconsciously hid the plastic bag behind his back.
Kim Taehyung glanced at Donghyun but did not respond.
"Do you need me to call a woman for you?" Jungkook remained seated, turning his head to look at President Kim, whom Donghyun had mentioned. Kim Taehyung's face was flushed, his mouth and nostrils slightly open, and he was breathing heavily. His nose was straight, his jawline was soft, and his eyes were moist. This sight was quite something; Jungkook felt his mouth go dry.
"I don't need a woman." Kim Taehyung spoke for the first time, his voice somewhat hoarse, as if he was suppressing something.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow and smiled knowingly. "Likes men?" he asked confidently. "Then what do you think of me?"
Taehyung was slightly taken aback and asked, "Are you sick?"
Most people would think it was an insult, but Jungkook answered seriously, "No, I get checked every year."
Donghyun felt incredibly embarrassed. Was it really okay for these two to discuss this like they were in a ghost town?
Also, Jungkook-hyung is too awesome!
He hooked up with their big boss on his very first day here!
Jungkook stood up. "Donghyun-ah, keep an eye on things."
Donghyun vaguely agreed, "Okay."
Jungkook picked up Taehyung and walked to the right side of the sofa. He kicked open the door, went inside, and then closed it with his foot.
After the two disappeared from his sight for a while, Donghyun came to his senses and muttered, "Damn! Jungkook-hyung is too awesome!"
Jungkook put Taehyung on the bed, then took a backpack from the corner, pulled out a coat, and spread it on the floor.
