"Land ahead!" Announced Usopp from the crows nest.

Aside from the ones already there, the rest of the straw hats came onto deck, excited to explore new island after weeks at sea. Nami stated that due to its small size, it's most likely uninhabited, but they need to restock any supplies possible and give the log pose time to reset.

While deciding what jobs they all had, Luffy had launched his way onto the island, landing in the middle of the forest. Causing unsurprised sighs from the crew. However, after docking, the majority headed in the same direction, leaving only chopper on the sunny.

Zoro, Sanji (and Luffy if he had stayed to listen) had the job of exploring the island in the slight chance of any danger. They didn't see the point especially since Namis statement on the islands size, but after Usopp declared "i have the incredible rare case of cant-set-foot-on-an-island-unless-it's-clear-of-enemies-disease" and Sanjis inability to say no to a lady, they had both began to traverse the labyrinth of trees.

"Careful I don't kick you, you blend right in mosshead" grumbled Sanji, before lighting a cigarette and kicking a tree out there way.

"You're one to talk curly, your eyebrow looks just like one of those vines" Zoro spat back. He didn't always enjoy their bickering, despite knowing no real malice was meant but he absolutely wasn't going to tell Sanji how he felt about it.

Sanji gave Zoro a puzzled look before turning around and seeing how the vine was infact a perfect spiral shape... a growing spiral shape.

Taking another puff of his cigarette, Sanji followed where it was coming from incase it was anything of interest (with his darling Robin-chan in mind, incase she wanted something new to research). However, to his shock, the curling fern was protruding from underground.

Before he even has time to question it, the vine was wrapped round his leg, Sanji gritted his teeth as he was dragged along the rough ground and hung upside down. Only then did he realise that what they thought was a vine, actually felt like something different, looking at what's captured him he realised it wasn't a tendril but rather.. a tentacle?

"One sword style" stated Zoro with a determined look on his face. Leaping forward, he effortlessly cut through the hindrance, causing Sanji to rapidly fall. As much as he knew it wouldn't have been an issue, Sanji was glad to be out of the creatures grasp. He then stood up, despite some strange difficulty while doing so, and looked at the hole where the tentacle had came from.

"What was that?" He asked after the remaining part retreated back underground.

"Hell if I know, but it was easy enough to cut through. Whatever it was do you think you could cook this pa-" Zoro cut himself off and looked down to where Sanji had been grabbed with a shocked expression.

"what the fuck happened to your leg!? we should get you back." Zoro shouted despite barely moving, keeping his eyes on the black mass spreading throughout the cooks thigh.

Sanji finally looked down, only now noticing the pain spreading throughout him.
"Shit..what is that!?" he stammered. His eyes full of panic as he fell back, as if he was trying to distance from his own body.

Before either of them could start going back to the sunny, another tentacle appeared from the hole. This one sharper and longer than before, as if it had evolved. Due to the shock neither pirate noticed the approaching threat, until they were about to turn towards the bays, when instead they suddenly stopped...

"H-hg..ah...!" gasped Zoro. His body going limp and his eyes hastily fluttering, fighting to stay open, hoping to help his mind or body react in any way possible. It was no use tho. He had been impaled, through his heart.
