The air was cold and crisp, then again it usually was during Tramor's summer nights. And on this one, in particular, Maestro was heading to the docks. When suddenly, he heard footsteps behind him. So, he quickly turned around, his green and yellow tipped deep blue mohawk following. However, there was no one behind him.
Then, when he faced forward again, there was a light gray boy crouched down on one of the logs anchoring the docks, to the sea floor, below. "Whatcha doing here, all alone?" the boy asked, curiously.
"Just about to head home." Maestro replied. "What're you doing, Midnight?"
Said boy shrugged, which caused his black tipped curly brown hair to shift, just a bit. "Waiting for you." he replied.
Maestro raised an eyebrow at this, before sitting on the docks. "Why?" he asked in confusion.
"I was wondering, if you were doing anything...for Father's day." Midnight replied.
Maestro took a deep breath. "I'm doing nothing." he said.
This confused Midnight. "How come?" he asked.
"My dad...isn't alive, Midnight." Maestro revealed in reply.
Midnight's deep blue eyes widened as he covered his mouth with one of his hands. "I'm sorry, Maestro." he stated. "I didn't know."
Maestro smiled at his friend. "It's ok." he assured. "I never knew him."
"Oh." Midnight said. "Still, sorry for bringing it up."
"Don't sweat it." Maestro insisted, before changing into his merform. "See ya round."
Midnight smiled and nodded in agreement. Then, he watched Maestro lower himself into the water, before swimming home.

While, Maestro was laying in bed, he couldn't stop thinking about his dad. He let out a deep sigh. "Hmm. Wonder what he was even like." he whispered to himself, before turning to the huge tank in the corner of his room. He watched his pet seal, sleep. And after a few minutes of that, he turned to face the ceiling. Before, slowly falling asleep.
