—I realized I had snoozed the alarm three times already. It's 8:10, and school starts at 8:25.
OH SHI—
—I brushed my teeth as fast as possible. Thank goodness my mom was asleep; I would have gotten into big trouble.
Some time later, I arrived at school two minutes late and got a delay card. This day couldn't get any worse.
When I arrived in class, I rested my head on my desk, and my best friend, Alex, nudged me and spoke in a playful tone.
"What's up, dude? You look dead."
—I looked up and responded in a sleepy, soft tone.
"Ugh, my mom is going to kill me. I'm late again."
—I slammed my head back onto the desk.
—Alex just laughed it off, and class started.
—After class, lunchtime came. As always, I forgot my lunch, so I went straight to play football. I've been getting slightly better at it these past few days, but I'm still the worst player in my school. But I enjoy playing it!
Some time later, I went to the school board, and then I saw:
SCHOOL FOOTBALL CLUB TRYOUTS NEXT TUESDAY
—The moment I saw that, I knew I was definitely going! This was going to be the start of my career!
I grabbed a paper and ran home. My mom got mad at me, and now I'm grounded.
