"I'm not a kid anymore, Taeyang."
𝗧𝗔𝗘𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗚 thought he knew Jongseob better than anyone.
After all, he'd been there from the start, looking after the grumpy fourteen-year-old maknae ever since they first met. So when Jongseob storms out of the...

THE SPEAKER in the corner of the desk was looping a beat, the kind that gets stuck in your head and bloody won't leave.
Jongseob was flat out on the end of the lounge, legs stretched out with his songwriting notebook resting on his thighs. The tip of his pen kept tapping against the paper while he read and reread the same line, trying to find the exact word he needed to finish the bar.
Right next to him, Intak couldn't sit still for two seconds. He was turned completely toward the younger bloke, arm resting on the back of the lounge, gesturing so much he nearly hit the ceiling.
- Nah, look, hear me out. - Intak blurted, leaning forward with his eyes flashing all electric like always. - If we hold back the tracks right at the transition and drop a bit of dead silence for a few seconds before the rap kicks in... mate, it's gonna sound unreal.
Jongseob let out a bit of a chuckle, keeping his eyes glued to the notebook. He spun the pen between his fingers, mulling over the other bloke's idea.
- Yeah, it's alright, but it depends on where you want to cut it - he replied, his voice a proper slow drawl, totally relaxed, the way he always got when he was in the zone. He finally looked up and pointed his pen at the middle of the page. - If the choreo matches the sharp cut of the beat, it works. If not, it's just gonna sound like the audio flunked out
- Ah, we'll sort the choreo out later, ya know how it is - Intak insisted, grabbing his mobile to tap out the rhythm on the coffee table.
Jongseob nodded, going back to scribbling a few random words on the margin of the page.
- Right, gotcha. I was trying to change the meter of this second part exactly because of that - he explained, turning the notebook a bit so Intak could read his handwriting. - If we keep the same flow, it's gonna sound identical to what we've already done. I want to try something a bit more broken, slightly out of sync at the start, and then lock it into the chorus later.
Intak leaned in closer, squinting to make out the chicken scratch on the paper, and started muttering the lyrics quietly, testing how the vocals fit over the beat still playing in the background. The two of them stayed there, completely wrapped up in their own little production world, swapping ideas and brainstorming what they could do better for the group. The vibe was spot on, productive and proper relaxed.
That's when the click of the lock echoed through the room, throwing off the rhythm of the conversation. The door opened slowly, without making much noise.
It was Taeyang.
- Ah... you blokes are here.
Intak smirked straight away and Jongseob raised his head to look at the door, but before they could change the subject or say anything, Intak beat them to it.
