Story of the Ramayana
The Ramayana is one of India's greatest epics, centered around Prince Rama of Ayodhya, who is considered the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Rama is exiled to the forest for fourteen years along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana due to palace politics and a promise made by his father, King Dasharatha.
During their exile, Sita is abducted by Ravana, the powerful king of Lanka. Determined to rescue her, Rama forms alliances with Hanuman and the Vanara army. After a fierce battle in Lanka, Rama defeats Ravana and brings Sita back to Ayodhya.
However, even after victory, doubts from society force Rama and Sita apart. Sita takes refuge in Sage Valmiki's ashram, where she raises her twin sons, Luv and Kush. The aftermath of the Ramayana focuses on themes of sacrifice, duty, love, loss, and the emotional burden carried by its heroes.
Author's Note
This story imagines what happens after the grand events of the Ramayana have ended — when the battles are over, but the emotional wounds remain. By introducing two modern girls into the world of Luv and Kush, I wanted to explore the quieter side of mythology: the loneliness, unanswered questions, and hidden grief behind legendary figures.
The Ramayana is often remembered for its heroism and war, but at its heart, it is also a deeply human story about love, sacrifice, family, and duty. Through this retelling, I hope readers can connect not only with the epic itself, but also with the emotions that continue long after history becomes legend.
