"What the hell does that mean," Mike said.

"It means we have to fucking leave, Mike," Max told him.

They were in Hoppers house looking for El, AGAIN on this marvelous morning. She had left the scoops ahoy establishment while they looked away for two seconds. Hopper asked Mike and Max- these two irresponsible teenagers- to make sure El didn't leave their sight for a week. Now they were standing in the middle of  Hoppers living room, looking like complete idiots, in their white and blue, sailor outfits.

  "Go find her," Hopper ordered.

"Okay, okay. But it's not gonna be easy," Mike said, raising his hands as if an officer was pointing  a gun at him.

And with that, Max and Mike left the house, looking stunned. Max walked down the steps, frustrated.

"Hey! Where are you going!" Mike shouted, "we're doing this together, I didn't sign up for this."

"Neither did I, Mike," Max said as she quickly spun on her heel waving her arms, "But we are not doing this alone. I'm calling Will."

Mike hadn't talked to will in a couple of days, Which, is the longest he has ever gone without talking to him. All the sudden he got a terrible head ache.

"Shit," Mike said, stopping and rubbing his temples.

"What now, Mike," max said, slowly turning around.

"I just got the worst headache."

"You're such a wuss." Max said, crossing her arms and tilting her head.

  "Whatever. let's go."

                                                                                                 -------------

They arrived at the busy mall an hour later. Their legs ached and burned. It probably wasn't a good idea to walk all the way here. Mike stopped and grab his knees, breathing hard.

"Wait- I- can't- breathe-" Mike said breathless,  holding up one finger.

"Oh, stop, You're two feet away from the-"

  "Hey! Max... and Mike,"

"Oh! Will- you're here," Mike said. He stood up and leaned his back against the pillar of the building.

  "Uh, yeah," Will said.

"Will, we need your help. We lost El and Hopper isn't helping this time," Max said.

"He is- really- mad at us," Mike added.

"Okay... What do you need help with?"

  "Just follow us," Max said.

Mike pushed himself off the wall and walked in the building with Max. Will followed them closely off to the side.

"So, where were you heading?" Max asked.

"Just to the art store, you know," He gave a nervous chuckle.

   "Cool," Max said.

They got to Scoops Ahoy and Mike flipped the sign on the door over to open. Almost immediately, a large group of noisy kids walked in.

"I want mint chocolate," One of the children said in a matter-of-factly voice. Max sighed.

"Mike, Will, discuss the situation, while I handle this, please."

"Whatever," Mike said. He opened the back door for Will and sat at the table.

"So... I know I haven't talked to you in a couple days," Will said,  "But I was wondering if we could be on speaking terms again?"

"Yeah.." Mike said, "Uhm, I was gonna apologize for... you know."

"You don't have to apologize, Mike. And really it's okay. We didn't mean for it to happen, we were...tired."

"Yeah," mike said.

"Anyways, she might be at Dustins," will said, "I know they've gotten closer over the summer."

"I didn't even think about that," mike sighed and rubbed his eyes.

"long day?" Will asked.

"Definitely. You know, I'm starting to think Max isn't that bad. She's just... She has a lot of confidence."

"I think she's great. I can always talk to her."

"yeah," it was silent for a while until Max walked in.

"Did we think of anything?" Max said while shutting the door.

"yeah, Will was thinking of Dustins house," mike said.

"Mhm," Will said, picking at his nails.

"Oh yeah... Let's go there then," Max said.
