coming back

"Welcome back master sargent" with my head held high I nodded to the lance corproal who had been sent to retrieve me from the airport. Taking my only suitcase he led the way out of the busy landing over to a black truck, great didn't the idiot see that I had a broken leg, sprained wrist and my face looked like someone had taken the color purple and had drawn patches on to it. I hated being useless so I swallowed my pain and put the crutches in the back and carefully pulled my self onto the truck, only giving a small grunt when I felt my stitches on my stomach pull some. He started the truck and we were on are way. The ride was awkwardly quiet but I preferred it that way.

"You didn't really say where you wanted to stay so for the time being you'll be staying at one of the non occupied apartments" he said pulling onto the road that led to the forts gate. The pale surroundings reminded me of the horrid place where I had been sent to. But I guess some things never change I was raised on a base and have lived in one ever since.
" that's fine, I'm just going to clear everything off and I'm going to take some leave days." I say with out interest already opening my door to get away from here as fast as I could. Hobbling my way to the back of the truck I retrieved my crutches and followed the lance corporal to the headquarters.

After I had cleared everything with my superiors I had my stuff put into the back of my jeep and pulled out of the base. " hey mason could I crash at your place?" I had called my best friend since I didn't really have anyone else to count on. "Oh my God when did you get back ? Are you alright? Where are you I'll pick you up. " he said exaggerating in my opinion. Rolling my eyes I pulled onto his street " actually I'm already here I was just asking." He lived in a simple community with only a hand full of houses which helped because I wasn't really a very social person. " well actually I'm not home but you know where the key is at" he said. Great I have to climb up onto his house for the damn key. "Sure" I say and hung up, see not very social like I said. Getting out I threw the annoying crutches onto the ground and hobbled over to the houses ladder which mason so kindly had let a rose vine grow on it meaning it was full of thorns as well.
"Shit!" One of the rows of thorns scratched my stomach causing me to flinch And allow for my hand to land on some more. Finally getting onto the roof I looked to my right and spotted the black tiny box screwed onto the roof. Landing disgracefully on my ass I laid on the ground for about five minutes before gathering enough courage to get up. Groaning I managed to put myself upright without hurting my stitches, any more. Oh God why does this always happen to me and on days like these when its sunny and clear and all I want to do is lay low all day.
