Salty Cities

Drowning under water as the salt

slowly stings my lips. I taste the city.

The car lights are mocking me. Pulling

at the seams of my pumping lungs. I reach

for some molecules of oxygen. I try to escape

as the slimy water continues to tease my mouth

My lips remind me of my failures from my time inside

the salty city.
