The doubt didn’t fade.
It didn’t soften with time, didn’t blur into something ignorable.
If anything,
It became clearer.
Sharper.

Taehyung sat at her desk, her book open in front of her, untouched.
Her eyes weren’t on the page.
They were somewhere else.
Back in that room.
That drawer.
Those documents.
That date.
That name.

Her fingers tapped lightly against the table.
Once.
Twice.
Then stilled.
“…This isn’t nothing,” she whispered.
And that was the moment it shifted.
From wondering,
To deciding.

The house was quiet again the next day.
Too quiet.
Taehyung stood at the entrance for a moment after unlocking the door.
She knew they wouldn’t be home yet.
She had checked.
Carefully.

Her steps were steady as she walked in.
No hesitation this time.
No second guessing.
Straight down the hallway.
Straight to the study.
The door opened.
Same room.
Same stillness.
But this time,..
It didn’t feel unfamiliar.
It felt like something she already understood.

She moved to the desk.
Opened the drawer.
Her hands didn’t shake.
They moved with purpose.
She pulled out the first document.
Unfolded it.
Read it again.
Same mismatch.
Same unease.

Then the second one.
The one tucked deeper.
The one that mattered more.
Her breath slowed.
Eyes scanning every detail.
Every line.
Every space that didn’t make sense.

“…Why would you do this…” she murmured.
Silence answered.
But she wasn’t expecting one.
Her gaze shifted slightly.
Then.....
She reached for her phone.
Paused.
Just for a second.
Because this,
This wasn’t just looking anymore.
This was taking something.
Crossing something.
A line.

Her grip tightened slightly around the phone.
Then she lifted it.
Clicked.
One photo.
Then another.
Clear.
Focused.
Proof.

Her heart was beating faster now.
But her hands were steady.
She folded the papers back carefully.
Placed them exactly where they had been.
Closed the drawer.
Stepped away.

The room looked untouched.
Like nothing had happened.
Like she had never been there.
But she knew better.
Because now,
She had something real.

The sound of the front door opening echoed faintly.
Taehyung froze for half a second.
Then moved.
Out of the room.
Into the hallway.
By the time IU stepped inside,
Taehyung was already in the living room.
Sitting.
Calm.
Scrolling through her phone.

IU paused.
Her eyes went to her immediately.
“You’re home early.”
Taehyung didn’t look up right away.
“Work ended early.”
The same answer.
The same tone.
But something felt different.
IU stepped closer.
Her gaze lingered.
Longer than usual.
“Did you eat?”
“I will.”

Taehyung finally looked up.
Their eyes met.
And for a moment,
It felt like both of them were searching for something in the other.
IU spoke again.
“Were you in my study?”
Direct.
This time, sharper.
Taehyung didn’t flinch.
“No.”

The lie came easily.
Too easily.
IU held her gaze.
Studying.
Measuring.
Then,
She nodded.
“Alright.”

But she didn’t move immediately.
She stayed there for a second longer.
Then turned.
Walked toward the hallway.
Toward the study.
Taehyung’s fingers tightened slightly around her phone.
Just for a second.
Then relaxed.
Her expression didn’t change.

Inside the study,
IU stepped in slowly.
Her eyes moved across the room.
Nothing looked out of place.
Still....
Something didn’t feel right.
She walked to the desk.
Opened the drawer.

The files were there.
Organized.
Exactly how she had left them.
She pulled one out.
Then another.
Checked them.
Carefully.
Everything seemed normal.
But her grip tightened slightly.
Because she knew.
Not logically.
Not visibly.
But instinctively.

Something had been touched.
Back in the living room,
Taehyung sat still.
Her phone resting in her hand.
The screen dark now.
She didn’t move.
Didn’t breathe differently.
Didn’t react.
But inside,
Everything had shifted.

Because now.....
It wasn’t just doubt.
It wasn’t just suspicion.
It was evidence.
And evidence.
Couldn’t be undone.
Her eyes lowered slightly.
Her thumb moved across the screen.
Opening the photos.
Looking at them again.
Closer this time.
Slower.

Understanding more with every second.
“This isn’t just a mistake…” she whispered.
No.
It wasn’t.
It was intentional.
And that meant—
Someone had chosen to hide it.
Her jaw tightened slightly.
“…Why didn’t you tell me?” she said under her breath.
Not angry.
Not yet.
But close.

Because now—
She wasn’t searching blindly anymore.
She had direction.
She had proof.
And most importantly,
She had a reason to keep going.
Upstairs.

IU stood in her study.
Still holding the file.
Her eyes distant.
Her thoughts unsettled.
Because something...
Something had changed.
And she could feel it.
Even without seeing it.
Even without knowing what exactly it was.
She knew one thing for certain,
Whatever they had kept hidden for years…
Was no longer safe.
