Or was he? After all she hadn’t fulfilled his request yet.
Yet?
She had never had a specific type of guy before, but being this close to Gage- close but not quite touching- she decided he was it.
Why in god’s name was all rational thought lost to her around him?
“That’s a beautiful sound,” he sighed, his eyes closing blissfully.
She fought to pull herself out of her head and back into the now, “Wh-what is?”
His hand came up between them, slipping beneath her coat to the exposed skin above her sweater, “your heartbeat.”
It wasn’t in a sexual way, simply to further his point.
Her heart was beating like a jackhammer in her chest.
“Nervous?” he pulled away and opened his eyes to look down at her again, one eyebrow lifting playfully.
“Yes,” she nodded.
Oh now you can say it, she grumbled to herself.
“Why?” he laughed, “don’t tell me it’s me?”
Cocky bastard was enjoying himself and she just kept playing right into his hands. Speaking of hands she reached up and pulled his away from her, a sudden rush of cold air seeming to replace his touch, “I think you know very well it’s you,” she admitted miserably.
“Embarrassed?” he asked smugly and leaned back against the wall behind him, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Yes,” she answered again, looking him over with a more clinical eye now that he put some space between them.
Well, he was still attractive, but proximity seemed to help with controlling her thoughts.
“Good,” he grinned…again. Did the man have any other expression?
Yes, lust, you just saw it.
Right.
“I’m glad I could get a reaction out of you.”
She had leaned over to pick up her bag but shot back up to glare at him, “you did that just…just…”
He laughed as she stuttered, “no, I didn’t do it just to get you worked up,” liar, she could see it in his eyes that he very much enjoyed getting her ‘worked up’. Though judging by his reaction to her tongue it might have backfired a little on him, made her feel a little better that it went both ways, “but so you can’t lie when I ask you again if your just here for the waiter. Admit it Sera, you want to be here for you too.”
She huffed and pulled her bag off the floor with a fierce look, “fine,” she threw a hand in the air, “maybe a little but-”
Before she could finish a paneled door opened behind her, hitting her in her rear and throwing her off balance, sending her stumbling into Gage.
Okay, theory confirmed. Being pressed against Gage- though enjoyable- wrecked havoc with her self control.
“Can’t get enough of me can you?” he joked.
She just shook her head, turning to see who had so inconsiderately thrown their door open like that. Oh what do you know, it was the blue hairs. And they had multiplied.
The traveler’s cabins might only sleep four, but they sat six. And like a clown car they all came filing out…slowly. It was the one with the walker leading the pack who noticed Sera and her aggravated self.
