Pond Naravit had never been good at sitting still. Even now, sprawled across the couch of their shared dressing room, his fingers tapped restless patterns against his thigh, his knee bouncing like it had a mind of its own. Across from him, Phuwin scrolled through his phone, the faint glow casting shadows under his lashes. The silence between them wasn’t uncomfortable-just familiar, the kind that settled after years of sharing spaces, scripts, and stolen glances.
"You’re doing it again," Phuwin said without looking up.
"Doing what?" Pond feigned ignorance, though he knew exactly what Phuwin meant.
"That thing where you vibrate like a phone set to silent." Phuwin finally lifted his gaze, lips quirking. "It’s distracting."
Pond grinned, unrepentant. "Maybe you’re just easily distracted."
Phuwin rolled his eyes, but Pond didn’t miss the way his fingers tightened around his phone for a second-just long enough to betray something beneath the calm. The air between them shifted, charged with the unspoken weight of all the scenes they’d played, all the lines they’d blurred for the cameras.
"You’re staring," Phuwin murmured, thumb hovering over his screen like he’d forgotten what he was doing.
Pond didn’t deny it. He let his gaze drift lower, to the delicate silver chain around Phuwin’s neck, the tiny dolphin charm resting against his collarbone. It was stupid, really, how something so small could unravel him. He remembered the day he bought it for Phuwin-some seaside market during filming, salt in the air and Phuwin laughing as he haggled with the vendor in broken Thai so he could get a bit of discount. Phuwin had teased him for it, called it cheesy. But now, the sight of it made his chest ache.
Before he could second-guess himself, Pond reached out, fingertips brushing the charm. Phuwin went very still.
"It’s still here," Pond said, voice softer than he intended.
"You're still wearing this stupid necklace," Pond said, nudging Phuwin's shoulder as they leaned against the dressing room vanity. The silver pendant-a tiny, ridiculous dolphin charm-caught the light between them.
Phuwin rolled his eyes, fingers automatically brushing over it. "It's lucky," he said, like he had six years ago when Pond first gave it to him during filming. Back when they were just co-stars, just friends, when the idea of them as anything more was a joke the fans screamed about at events.
Pond's laugh was low, familiar, but something in it had changed-something warmer, darker. His fingers trailed from Phuwin's shoulder down to the pendant, tugging it gently until the chain pressed into the back of Phuwin's neck. "Lucky, huh?" His thumb brushed the hollow of Phuwin's throat, and Phuwin swallowed hard. Six years of shared hotel rooms, script readings, and fan meets, and suddenly the air between them felt thick enough to choke on.
The dressing room door was still cracked open-anyone could walk in-but Pond didn't move his hand. Instead, he leaned closer, close enough that Phuwin could count the faint freckles scattered across his nose. "You kept it," Pond murmured, like he was just realizing it himself. "Even after the show ended. Even after....." His voice dropped. "Even after I stopped touching you like this."
Phuwin's breath hitched. They'd done this before, of course-the press tours, the staged kisses for screaming fans-but those were performances. This wasn't. Pond's fingers slid up into his hair, gripping just hard enough to tilt his head back. "Tell me why," Pond demanded, lips grazing Phuwin's ear.
The answer clawed its way up Phuwin's throat before he could stop it: "Because I wanted you to." The words hung between them, raw and unscripted. Pond's grip tightened, and Phuwin gasped as Pond yanked him forward, their mouths crashing together.
