This World That Divides Us explores the lives of Jack and Stassie, two college students from vastly different social backgrounds—one from a wealthy family, the other from a more modest one. Despite the gap between them, they find a way to bridge their worlds ßand form a connection that gradually evolves over time.

As the story unfolds, they face challenges that disrupt their usual ways of thinking and living, ultimately pushing them toward growth and self-discovery. Their dynamic develops from tension and conflict into a deeper emotional intimacy, following an engaging enemies-to-lovers progression.

The story touches themes such as first love, friendship, heartbreak, jealousy, family pressure and societal judgments, all of which add layers to the characters and their journey.

Overall, it's an enjoyable read, especially for those who appreciate character-driven romance and emotional development. If this is your kind of story, it's definitely worth checking out. Don't hesitate to show some love to Renrach!

We've also conducted an interview. Interested to know how this story came to be or the author's challenges of writing it? Read on to know more.

Q. What inspired you to start writing "This World That Divides Us"?

What inspired me to start writing "This World That Divides Us" is my love for young adult romance stories and the enemies-to-lovers book trope. To me, writing has always served as an escape and a safe place that I could dive into whenever I needed to feel supported. Creating this world and these characters was beyond therapeutic for me at a time when I really needed it to be.

Q. Do you think rumors shape identity? If yes, how do you think they shape identity in a school environment like the one in your story? If no, why?

I do think rumours have the ability to shape identity and I do think they can shape identity in a school environment not only by altering self perception but also altering how others view a person without really getting to know them.

Q. Were any of your characters based on real people?

Nope, the story is 100% fictional

Q. What was your favorite scene between Jack and Stassie?

I have many but my most favorite scene between Jack and Stassie takes place in chapter 20 when Jack brings her to his treehouse. As a writer, this was the first time I really felt like I was finding Jack's vulnerability.

He gives Stassie an insight into who he really is and what he's truly passionate about, which is writing. He talks about his childhood with her and how he would visit the treehouse after school when he was six because it was his quiet place. He shared his favourite quote with her and tells her he wouldn't share this part of himself with just anyone.

I also think this is where we just get to see a different side of Jack. Yes, he's the popular, rich athlete but there's a deeper layer to him and it really shines in this part of the story.

Q. If you could describe the story from Henry's POV in one sentence, what would you say?

If I could describe the story from Henry's point of view, I would say that it is not giving up on the hope that what's meant for you will find its way to you when it's supposed to.

Q. Is there anything you found particularly challenging while writing "This World That Divides Us"?

Finding the right momentum and pace between Stacey and Jack's growing chemistry and compatibility was particularly challenging. They start off as enemies and I didn't want to completely jump to them suddenly falling in love with each other. I wanted their relationship to change in a gradual, realistic way and make sure that I give them time to fight and not really like each other before changing the course of relationship to love.

The basis of the story is that they are from two different worlds, so the timing for them to come together in a romantic way needed to be done carefully and not abruptly.

Q. What do you hope readers take away from this story?

For me, reading and writing is my biggest form of therapy. Through it, I am able to escape into a fictional world and meet characters that eventually have an impact on my life, to some extent.

So first and foremost, I hope that readers find what they're looking for after reading this story—Whether it's comfort, hope, happiness. Whatever it is, I hope they find it.
