They really weren't looking for any big party. It was a quiet Friday night and— well Cortex and Buzzy were quite bored.
There was a party just in the city from the CC and.. well who has anything to do on Fridays? So they both went on a little walk, just talking about life and such.
They were horrible at small talk, and lately it had felt to Buzzy like Cortex was just.. losing interest in him. He knew he wasn't as interesting and spontaneous as when they had first met— no longer that bubbly recruit buzzing his way around the command center. He had grown in the last 7 years to become stronger, grown into his features more- though he had never believed people when they told him that.
They got to the party and almost instantly got separated, getting lost in the crowd of people. Apparently, this was not a party it was a rager. Buzzy was not a party goer— in-fact he really only came here cause he was hoping to patch things up with his current lover. However, it didn't look like that was going to happen.
'Well- there's no point in wallowing in self pity I suppose-?' He thought to himself, going to mix himself up a drink. Vodka Cranberries— a drink he had grown quite fond of over the few years he'd been able to drink. It went down alright and was, even if he couldn't admit it, addictive. Though he'd learned to limit himself.
Though, after a few of them— he wasn't so sure he could say that anymore. Buzzy was sitting there, his fifth drink in hand his mind clouded with thoughts (mostly surrounding his lover) just wondering what was going on between them.
He was circling the rim of his cup with his finger when a guy sat next to him. He looked up and saw said guy with his strawberry locks hanging In front of his face, not obscuring his grass green eyes which felt as if he had just seen the most beautiful painted landscape— though he could just be drunk.
"What's a cute thing like you doing drinking all alone?" He asked. He had a nice voice- though buzzy thought that was a weird thing to think. "My names Chaz, what's yours gorgeous?" Buzzy unconsciously pushed up his glasses, his palms were sweaty and he was tired- parties stressed him out and he was not a pretty drunk.
"Buzzy— I have a b-" he was cut off by Chaz, "how many of those have you had?" He chuckled taking the glass from him and finishing it off.
Buzzy frowned and reached over to grab his glass, his hand leaning on Chaz's thigh.
"Forward, I like that" he grabs his face and kisses him forcefully, not really leaving him any room to pull away.
It's not that he wanted to, but his brain was so clouded that Buzzy honestly forgot who he was even talking to- but he knew this wasn't Cortex. Even if they hadn't been as close recently, he never touched him like this.. so grossly forceful.
He shifted around trying to pull away before he heard a voice. "Hey— FUCK OFF-" it was loud, though everything there was. Buzzy was finally let go, his lips feeling tingly and not in a good way.
"Hey we were just having fun no need to be such a buzzkill" Chaz says, wiping his lips like Buzzys peppermint chapstick was dirt on his shoes.
"Yeah well have some fun with someone else's boyfriend." Cortex replied— trying not to start anything unnecessary. Which to Buzzy didn't feel too good either, was he not worth fighting for?
Chaz rolled his eyes and got up, disappearing into the crowd. "You ok?" Cortex asked, not even looking at him. "Mm fine." He mumbled, a tone of attitude in his voice and rightfully so.
"You're pissed at me? You're the one who just cheated!! What the hell did I do." He replied, not yelling but on the brink of doing so. Buzzy's head was spinning and so was the world.
"It's not like you would've even cared anyway." He mumbled "hell I could've fucked him and you wouldn't have cared."
"Oh and I bet you would have! Not like you even act like you love me anymore!!" Cortex often raised his voice— never at Buzzy, always at one of their friends or at General Knowledge or something but.. never at him.
"ONLY CAUSE YOU CONSTANTLY ACT LIKE YOU HATE ME AND IM STARTING TO THINK YOU DO. DON'T YOU? DON'T YOU HATE ME LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DOES?" He didn't know when the tears started falling down his face.
"I RELAPSED LAST WEEK AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN CARE. I CAME TO YOU FOR HELP AND YOU TURNED A BLIND EYES SO DON'T ACT LIKE IM MISTER BAD PARTNER."
Cortex's face drained of color almost.
"You-.. you didn't come to me. I would've- I would've helped and you know that." He was looking away struggling to make eye contact as tears balled up in his eyes as well.
"I called. Over and over. I called you from my bathroom floor and you were too busy to answer." Buzzy mumbled out through his tears, they over took his voice, his sight, his mind.
"Well maybe I would've answered if you hadn't been acting like a dick to me lately." Cortex mumbled, knowing he took it too far. "I- I didn't mean that bee-.. it's just— what happened to us? I mean we used to be great." He offered.
Buzzy was silent for a few seconds, scratching at his sleeves. His blue eyes flashing with hatred, for who he wasn't quite sure.
"Don't-.. don't talk to me.." he walked past Cortex, stumbling through people, the horrendously loud music drowning out Cortex's calls for him.
He made it out the front door before figure came up behind him.
"Why don't we get out of here, hm?" A familiar voice called from behind him.
He turned around to see those green eyes. Chaz was dangling car keys from his fingers, looking at him with a challenging look.
Buzzy pondered for a moment— only a moment. He thought as much as he could about Cortex and how much he didn't want to see him right now before responding.
"Yeah.. that would be nice"
