I finally got the job! I've been waiting so long to find out if I got it, but they'd finally gotten back to me! Oh man, I can't wait to do this! I've always wanted to make kids happy.

I quickly grabbed my coat and keys, smiling to myself. It was 5 AM, but it always helps to be early to go to work. Especially on your first day. I still can't believe it, though. Mr. Pierre sounded so grateful over the phone that someone would even take these positions. Almost makes you wonder...

I arrived at playtime co, stepping out of my car. Man, that was a long drive. They could've built it closer, I tell ya. The building is absolutely huge, I can't even explain it. It's just... There. For no reason. I walk up to the building, and man. Even the doors look huge compared to me. I push them open and walk in, a smile on my face as I see all of the toy boxes on the ground, and huggy wuggy standing front and center.

The security guard of the factory, as leith calls him. I don't get it, though. He doesn't look very scary, like at all. If he weren't a staggering 18 foot tall, I think I could take him. He just looks like a cuddly guy.

But my work isn't up here right now. I walk to a staircase and make my way down. It took a while, but I'd finally, somehow, found my way to the laboratories! I had to do a lot of convincing to get a job down here, that's for sure. As I changed into my robes, I can't help but appreciate just how lucky I am to be in this position. Many would kill for a job like this.

I joined the other scientists, who looked at me with... Disappointment. Almost as if they were judging me for joining this profession.

"What is it?" I ask, tilting my head. "Do I have something on my face?"

"...No." What looked to be the head scientist, a man who didn't look very friendly, answered before walking away. How rude of him, I'll have to talk to him later to figure out what his deal was.

After a bit of exploring the white walled labs, i got a little bored. Not gonna lie, I don't know what I expected. Jobs like these have setbacks of a lot of free time, I guess. Or maybe I'm just dumb. But when I turned the corner, I saw the scientists from earlier prepping a massive toy for transfer. I walked over and stopped in front of tape on the ground.

"What's going on? Why is kissy on a rack?" I asked politely, keeping my voice even.

One of the scientists, an elderly man named Eric, stood up after adjusting one of the straps on Kissy Missy. "We're taking Kissy over to playcare. Boss man says she needs to go."

"Boss man?"

"Jesus, kid. Doctor Sawyer." The man replied before getting into the train with the conductor.

I remember that name. Mr. Pierre said Sawyer was the head scientist and mind behind the bigger body toys. I still wonder how they've made those toys, though. I don't buy that it's just stuffing.

As if on cue, Doctor Sawyer called me into his office.

"Ah, the new hire. Izuma, yes?" He greeted with a polite grin, the kind that screams serial killer. Seriously, I don't trust this guy one bit. "Sit, sit. We have... Much, to discuss."

I follow his instructions and sit, staying quiet whilst he explains what he needs to.

"Now, in your record I see you have medical knowledge, but little experience in surgery. Do you know what you're doing, or do you need to be shown?"

"Um..." My brain malfunctioned under his intense gaze. I could barely think in a room with this guy, let alone get a sentence out. "I suppose you could show me once... I'm a good learner."

"Good, good. Please, come with me."

Doctor Sawyer led me into an experimentation room, where a small body was on a bed, unconscious and seemingly prepped for surgery. Izuma's eyes widened in horror as what was about to happen become clear.

"Wait..." She took a step back, putting distance between herself and the bed.

"Don't do that. You signed up for this." Sawyer growled. But I think he realized he'd scared me a little, as his gaze softened just the slightest. He gestured to the table with the surgical tools on it.

I walk over and shakily picked up a scalpel. My hand couldn't stop shaking, I couldn't stop shaking. I look up at doctor Sawyer, who was already making an incision into the patients back.

"Cmon man... We can't really-"

"Can't what? You're wasting time. Either operate or get lost." Sawyer wasted no time. I made a mental note to remember this.

I had to keep up with him and watch this excruciating surgery. Bones were snapped and broken, parts were taken out, blood sprayed everywhere. I reached in, gently grabbing the spine.

I hesitated, looking at the patient again. Snapping the spine was a dangerous move and could lead to death, but she trusted herself. And most of all, her job was on the line. She knew too much now, and she was a liability to let go. So she brought herself to do it.

In one, gruesome move, she snapped the spine of the patient under her grip. The small body went limp as the surgery continued, any and all resistance gone. Izuma performed skin graphs, cutting out pieces of the patients skin and replacing them with plastic pieces. She eventually got the little body complete, and all that was left was to remove the brain.

She walked to the front and took a deep breath, following the instructed area as she made an incision. She cut around the scalp expertly before removing it completely, taking the top of the skull off with it. She placed it on a nearby table and gently pulled out the brain, replacing it with an artificial one. Blood spilled from the table onto the floor.

With shaky hands, she handed it over to Doctor Sawyer.

"Thank you, Izuma. You have done well." Doctor Sawyer placed the brain into a jar, chuckling. "I'll be taking it from here. You can go."

With shaky hands, I took off my blood soaked gloves and walked out of the room. I leaned against the nearby wall, looking up at the roof. I really just did that, I really just...

I really just helped kill that person. The worst part is, he wasn't even close to my age.

It was now 7 pm. I walked out to my car and shakily pulled out my keys, getting in and driving off. I didn't even put on my seatbelt, I just needed to get away. I pulled over in the middle of the woods, getting out of my car and crumbling to the ground. I held my head in my hands, tears falling down my face. I didn't know what I could've done differently, I don't know if I can just leave the job either. They know where I live, they know where my family lives, they know all of our names... I can't do anything.

All I can do is pray.
