The first time the melody drifted through Willow Creek, it was just past midnight. Leo sat up in bed, confused, because the sound didn't come from any house, car, or speaker. It floated through the air like a whisper, soft and shimmering, almost alive. He opened his window, expecting to see someone outside, but the street was empty. The music grew clearer, weaving through the trees behind his home. Leo grabbed a flashlight and slipped out quietly. At the forest edge, the melody suddenly shifted pitch, almost like it noticed him. He shivered. Whatever was playing that song wasn't human.
