Before the world forgot, the ocean once held a love it was never meant to keep.

“You shouldn’t be here,” he said, his voice low and urgent as he stood before her, the waves curling at her feet like they were trying to pull her back.

“And yet,” she replied softly, her eyes meeting his without fear, “you came.”

She was not human.

And he knew it.

But that didn’t stop him from reaching for her, his hand trembling as it found hers, as if this single touch could change everything—or ruin it.

“Do you trust me?” he asked.

She smiled, gentle and certain. “I crossed the sea just to find you.”

For a moment, that was enough.

Until it wasn’t.

Shouts echoed in the distance. Footsteps rushed closer. The world that once felt so quiet began to fall apart.

“Run,” he told her, gripping her hand tighter. “You have to go.”

“Will you find me again?” she asked, her voice barely steady.

“Even if you forget me,” he promised.

And then—

Their hands slipped.

The sea rose.

And she was gone.

But the ocean never forgets.

And neither does love.
