Maggie's POV

"Are you peaking Maggie?". Toby says.

"Can I please just get one hint? Just one hint". I whine.

"Nope". He replies.

The blindfold around my eyes feels too tight so I reach up and loosen it.

"Maggie, no peaking". Toby reaches over and peels my hands from my face. His hands are warm and still make me jittery all inside.

I've been sitting in his car, blindfolded, for almost 15 minutes and I've begun to grow more impatient. God knows where he's taking me.

Why? Well because it's my birthday today! I'm 17 today. Happy birthday to me! And the sweetest guy in the world is taking me to a surprise, that would be Toby. We've been together for almost a year. 8 months. At first, I wondered why he choose me?

I didn't offer much, nothing actually. I wasn't pretty or athletic. I have long brown hair, olive skin and light brown eyes. Simple.

But I didn't meet Toby out of casualty. No, I was set up by my best friend, Gracie. She was on the dance team and extremely popular.

Again? Why did she choose me?

The first time I met Toby was at his basketball game.

When Gracie introduced us, I didn't even stutter or get nervous. I usually stutter when I'm around attractive men.

Don't get me wrong, Toby is really attractive! More attractive than half the guys at our school. But he was easy to talk to. He was 6 feet tall, average height for a basketball player. When we first met, he was a junior while I was a sophomore.

He is sweet, gentle, a goof, and passionate with me. We aren't a boring couple, we're just safe?

"Are we almost there yet?". I whine again.

Toby taps my nose, "Patience grasshopper". He chuckles.

After a while, he says, "I can't believe my baby girl is 17 today". My heart flutters when he calls me baby girl.

"Yep, all grown up now". I say.

"So are you finally going to get rid of that stuffed bear next to your window?".

I gasp, "His name is Manny and no I am never going to get rid of him. Ever".

He laughs, "And you were saying you were all grown up?".

I laugh with him. Being with him is comfortable and easy. As my first relationship, it's going well so far.

His laughter dies when his car slows down.

Uh oh....

This can't be good. I remove the blindfold from my head. The sun burns my eyes. We are in some kind of forest. My dad took me here when I was younger.

I open the door. So does Toby.

The color drains from our faces.

We have a flat tire.
