The ballroom was filled of chatter and music. People mingled, dancing came later when the true party started. Being the Princess, I had to start. The doors opened slowly as a few of our higher servants moved out of my way. The gown was huge, and tight on the waist, which I hated. Being a princess made it to where you had to be "perfect". But I believed no such thing.

Nobody was perfect, yet my parents insisted I had to be. It was impossible. No matter how tight the dress, you could never be skinny enough. No matter how mannerful you were, you still were disgusting. Little girls dream of being a princess, and it is nice in some ways. But in reality, i'm just a girl who has more control of the kingdom then a normal person.

Ofcourse, more money, more power, it's basically the meaning of Greed. Someone got greedy, got alot of what they wanted, and continued the cycle.

I took a deep breath as my lady in waiting straightend my tiara. "You're going to do great out there." She was an older woman with beautiful red hair. Not one grey hair on her head even with 5 children. Her kids were mostly grown and also worked in the castle alongside her. She was great support for me, and understood how stressful it might be. "You're beautiful, you're confident, you're going to miss not one step. Don't stress yourself too much dear."

I nodded, looking toward the open doors that my parents were walking through. I could hear the quietness as a trumpet blew to annouce their presence. I shifted in my heels and nodded towards her. "Thank you, Mirelle." My voice shook with nerves, and by the way she looked at me with a frown she could hear it. She gestured forward for me to walk, and murmurs, "I'll be near if you need me," which was reassuring.

As I moved the dress swayed, it was a baby blue color with silver lace around the waisted area up to my chest. The sleeves were short, and rested on my upper arm in a puff of fabric. Luckily since we were going to be dancing I didn't have a dress train that dragged on the floor. My masquerade mask matched the baby blue dress and sliver trimming, the string went around my head but was invisible due to my hair.

The trumpet blew again once I took my place at the doors, I glanced at Mirelle one last time, who gave me a thumbs up. "Princess Anara, of Solmire." I hear the Master Of Ceremonies yell out above the crowd. The doors open, I quickly adjust my masquerade mask, before placing my hands infront of me, resting on my dress. As I slowly walked out onto the balcony of the ballroom, people bowed. Everyones upper face was covered in a mask, and I looked down upon everybody that stared to the floor.

I made my way to my parents side, and music started with the Court Musician's playing many instruments that intertwined to a beautiful song. My parents started the dance, spinning around the dancefloor before many other people joined in. I stood by my seat, scanning the crowd. I had to wait for somebody to approach me, which I doubted anyone would.

In many princes or lords eyes I was a disgrace. I always tripped over my feet, or spilled a drop of food on my dress. I was 'Imperfect'. It almost made me glad, since nobody ever asked for a marriage. I often stood aside and watched people dance. I knew alot of faces from just watching.

I look over to Mirelle who gave me a warm smile. She practically raised me along with her children, since my parents were overly busy being rulers of the kingdom. Many times my mother would try to replace Mirelle since she believes I didn't know proper manners because of her, but I never allowed it. Mirelle was all I had to actually feel normal.

Before I could look back to the dance floor and watch, somebody approached me. He was tall, wearing a suit that looked far too expensive for a lord. He smiled at me, extending a hand towards me in an offering.

"It seems you need a dance partner, Princess Anara." He bowed his head sarcastically, and it made my lips crack a slight smile. I glanced at my parents, who glared me onto taking the mans hand. Which I did.
